Brad and Meg went to school together. Brad remembers Meg from elementary school, but Meg doesn't remember Brad. They were in the Sterlington High School Band and art class together, and they spent lots of time with a group of friends that stood around "the table" at lunch.
We got engaged on our 4-year anniversary. Brad went ring shopping with a friend, but accidentally slipped and told me. The Wednesday before our anniversary, Brad asked my father's permission. My mother suggested that Brad take a beer to my father, who was working in the garage. The conversation went something like this...
Brad: "Would you like a beer?"
Dad: "Yes."
Brad: "Can I marry your daughter?"
Dad: "Yes."
Armed with this blessing, Brad took me out for dinner and coffee on our anniversary. He then took me back home, where he told me that I could no longer be his girlfriend, but that he'd be honored if I would be his wife.
I was really nervous to ask Meg's dad if I could marry her, so I used my secret weapon... beer. It worked! Can you believe that? No one can resist the power of free beer. How do you think people get their friends to help them move?
