Wedding Worries, Woes & WOWs

As the planning process continues check in to see how everything is going!

The Perfect Unity Candle Stand!

So I finally found EXACTLY what I was looking for!!!!!!!!!! I didn't want the normal unity candle stand and wanted to try and stay along the lines of our black and white formal looking theme, but then I love wrought iron, so what a perfect mix this is! Not to mention, it was 12 bucks, Yay for 50% off at Hobby Lobby, there is nothing better! Here's a picture. It's laying in the floor with the candles above to give the full affect without unwrapping the plastic from the candles. Yay!

Microsoft Word is not my friend!

So this is my final week of Christmas break and I have been doing everything possible to keep my classes out of my mind. I started fiddling around with some ideas for our programs. I finally got the tri-fold program how I wanted it, but now the formatting seems off and nothing is centered. It's driving me insane! I also have been feeling the crunch on making invitations. Our original plan was to have a small wedding at a church north of town, but our guest list was too large, therefore, we...

The Cake Stand

I didn't want pillars for our cake, nor did I want the cake "stacked". I wanted something I had never seen before, and I think I found it! Maybe you've seen something like this, but I haven't and I think its pretty nifty! When you place the supports away from you, it ALMOST looks like it floating! I'm really excited to see how this turns out! Yay!

Save The Dates

My original plan was to do magnets, but I met a girl on Facebook's Weddingbook application and she designed a custom Save the Date for Brandon and I. I plan to put the design on a postcard and send them out in the next couple of months. I'm super excited! We're using vistaprint.com, which is a fabulous printing company that offers several promotional free-bies, including POSTCARDS! Perfect! Here's the design

Change of Location

Our original plan was to get married at a church north of town that Brandon's grandparents use to attend. However, it's a small church and can only fit 150 people and after going over our guest list, Brandon and I decided that 179 people are not going to fit. Even if several people can't come, I still felt that it might be a little packed. Not to mention, each time I think about my wedding I picture it at the Methodist Church. SO! Long story short, we're changing it to the Aurora United...

Centerpiece Ideas

Since we changed the wedding from December to October, my ideas of incorporating colored ornaments into a centerpiece wasn't going to work. I looked all over the internet and found a few things that sparked my interest. I really wanted to embrace the season and use things that are readily found in October. My idea is to incorporate two different centerpieces in the reception. The first will be a bright organ pumpkin placed in the middle of the table. Running the length of the table will be...

Changing the Date

So after some thought, Brandon and I have decided to change the wedding date. We've waited long enough to get married and figured, why wait until December??? Our plan is to change the wedding date from December 12 to October 17. I am really happy with the decision and think that a fall wedding will be beautiful! I'm really looking forward to start planning a lovely autumn wedding after the holidays are over!!!!!!

Crystal Bouquets

And so it begins.... I found a link to a website that discussed the making of crystal bead bouquets, and was intrigued, seeing as I don't particularly like flowers, and the price of them in December can be astronomical. Therefore, I did some research and began getting really excited about the idea. Luckily, Brandon's Mommom (grandmother) sells beads and things wholesale. So naturally, I talked to her about getting some crystals and ended up ordering about 2000. After the crystals the...

Working on Invitations

I've decided to make my own invitations, mainly because I love to scrapbook and haven't found a design template that really suits us. I found a black and cream swirl paper at Hobby Lobby, and then got some cream cardstock and cream vellum in which I will print the wording. Also, I will put a red ribbon across the middle. I really like it! Hopefully everyone else will feel the same (I've done some more tweeking since this picture was taken)
