I grew up in small town East Texas which of course resulted in an incredibly thick texas accent-seriously-you should SEE the home videos....but, other than that-my childhood was pretty great...I liked to read and I hated practicing the piano...and I loved swimming ( I was a competitive swimmer until a shoulder injury in high school took the joy right out of it). I had fabulous friends who all flew in the same "slightly odd, but also cooler than the cool kids" circle and therefore I was able to come through my adolescent years with some very funny memories and some blackmail worthy pictures.
After high school I did something that did not fit my "homebody" nature-but did fit my "I like to do things differently so THERE" attitude...I headed off to New Zealand where I spent the next few years at the University of Otago, studying literature ( which I looooved) and communications ( which I loooathed) but more importantly I spent my days and nights with some of the most wonderful friends I could have ever asked for-something which God really used in my life to further my walk with Him.
After graduating I felt like God was sending me back to Texas... at the time I didnt really want to go back ( I kinda fell in love with New Zealand, you'd love it too...)-but I knew it was right, and I told God that I would go back...for "two and a half years".
Turns out that my time back in Nacogdoches has been blessed with wonderful growing times with God ( you know, the kind you dont want to relive, but that you are happy happened), fabulous times with family and friends and now I can only say that I am happy I had some 'adult' time here-before heading up to Washington to do who knows what.
-Incidently, a few weeks ago I realized that I will be leaving Texas exactly one day after my two and a half year anniversary.
Whoa.
