Brett & Erica

Our Story

Once upon a time while trying to figure out what to do with her life, Erica enrolled in a Master program at Pepperdine University. Her dad, Marc, had an old friend who's daughter had attended the same program (she also happened to be Brett's future sister-in-law Shana). Erica's mom, Shohreh, attended Shana's bridal shower and as a result Shana reached out to Erica to discuss the program she was starting. Luckily, for Brett and Erica, Adam (Brett's brother) was looking out for his lil bro and asked Shana if Erica was stunning, beautiful, gorgeous, smart, funny, (Which of course she is) and most importantly, single. Adam, posing as Shana, wrote Erica on Facebook asking if she was interested in meeting what would turn out to be her future husband. With little enthusiasm Erica agreed and gave out her e-mail address, expecting next to nothing. Brett and Erica met a week later at Busby's West in Santa Monica, and spent the next 8 hours talking and getting to know each other. After closing down the bar, Brett melted Erica's heart when he politely asked if he could see her again. In the end, the Teaching credential earned and money spent netted Erica a husband instead of a career.

Our Engagement Story

The Best Damn Trip to the Grand Canyon...EVER!
Our Engagement Story

Over 4th of July weekend, Brett and Erica set out on their vacation to the Grand Canyon which would turn out to be the best trip to Northern Arizona they would even take. The trip had originally been planned to start on Thursday, June 30th, but in order to break up the drive Brett and Erica decided to spend a night in Vegas. This is important because Brett knew he was proposing at the end of the trip and needed a haircut. He decided to cut his own hair, something he had done for years in college, but part of the way through the clippers broke. After multiple hours Brett was able to salvage what was left of his hair, clog the shower, and finally leave to pick up his unhappy girlfriend (she doesn't like when he's 2 minutes late, let alone 2 hours). Erica's parents, aware of the imminent proposal, did their best to appease their daughter. Needless to say, the trip got off to a rough start. Brett had cleverly hidden the ring in the truck and spent the next 4 days worrying about whether or not it was still there. At the end of an amazing trip (seriously the Grand Canyon's awesome), Brett and Erica packed up for what Erica thought was a LONG 10 hour drive home. Of course, Brett had other plans. He secretly navigated his way through most of Arizona, before missing a turn (thank you Google Maps) and getting "lost" outside of beautiful Yuma, Arizona. At this point Brett had to explain to Erica that, No, they were not going home, but instead going to South Coast Winery in Temecula, CA where they had spent their 1 year anniversary. Erica, excited to be going to the winery, luckily didn't question the motives behind this surprise. Finally, when Brett and Erica arrived at the winery, Brett saw an opportunity to get the ring and sent Erica inside to check in. After putting the ring in his pocket Brett casually went inside the lobby and finished checking in with Erica. They then drove to the villa they were staying and got their stuff out of the car. Brett handed Erica the key so that she would open the door. As she opened the door, Brett's hand went in his pants...to get the ring. Erica opened the door to the room to find rose petals, love songs, and champagne and the wheels began to turn in her head. Brett quickly grabbed her by the arms and spun her around, telling her that she was the most amazing person he had ever met and how much he loved her. "...So much that I want to spend the rest of my life with you" he said as he dropped to one knee and presented an open box with a beautiful ring designed especially for her. Fighting through tears, Erica managed what is thought to be a "Yes". We're still not sure.
