Mike and I met in high school. We were friends at Northside, but never really got to know each other until after we both graduated from college and moved back to Dothan. We kept running into each other and after some friendly encouragement from my best friend, Mike finally got the courage up to give me a call and ask me out. Our first date was June 20, 2003, and we've been together ever since!
Mike made a big deal about where we should eat Christmas Eve-Eve dinner so we went to one of my favorite restaurants here in Dothan, Kyoto Sushi. When we got back to the house, he said that we should go ahead and open Christmas presents because we'd be too busy with church and our families on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Naturally, I went after the biggest one. There was a huge box wrapped under the tree that I opened and found tons of packing peanuts and another wrapped box inside. After a few more wrapped boxes, I finally got to the last one which had a beautiful jewelry box inside. At this point I thought I knew what was coming, but I opened the jewelry box and it was empty! Then I looked up and he got down on his knee, pulled the ring out of his pocket and asked me what I had planned for the next 40 or 50 years because he would love it if I would be his wife! Of course I said YES!
