Needless to say, the church is absolutely beautiful, ideal for the wedding that we’ve envisioned. Picture-perfect, with an aisle of just the right length, so that when the door opens, the first thing I see is my groom.
Gathering and submission of the necessary documents was easy because we can always drop by anytime to submit the docs as we have it. Miss Cathy of the parish office was always kind to assist any of our queries, thru text or thru email. Even the new parish priest was very kind during our interview, and it was fun to learn that we (myself, my groom and the priest) came from the same high school, same university and same college and that made us at ease to tell him our love story.
Before we had the required church rehearsal, I actually considered this “church requirement” as a hassle to us and to our entourage (my groom would want to have the rehearsal). That proved me wrong because everything was in order during the actual wedding (thanks also to our OTD of course). The best thing is, it was only during the bridal march rehearsal that I felt nervous during the entire 18 months of wedding preps. And come actual day, there were just 2 simple emotions – happiness and excitement.

You may want to watch the Onsite Video so you would know why we rated Fr Ramil with a perfect 10! The ceremony (particularly the homily) was very lively, it perfectly matches our (my and my groom’s) personality. Imagine being called “Little Miss Philippines” and “Going Bulilit” on your wedding day?
Father Ramil is a regular guest priest in St Alphonsus. He was “suggested” by Miss Cathy of the parish office, and by a good friend from our office. The interview with him (which he required so that he could make the homily personalized) was really nice. He really made it sure he knows us before the wedding. He even read the “Our Story” portion of our weDsite which he commented as “parang fairy tale” during his homily.
We were surprised to find out that he almost missed an all expense paid trip to Singapore because of our wedding. I said almost, because he should have gone there 2 days before our wedding for a house blessing. He went to the straight airport for after our wedding ceremony (so he was not able to join us in the reception). In short, his trip was 2 days short.

10+/10
Le Pav is a perfect venue if you want to have that exclusive feeling for your wedding (and any event). We especially loved the privacy of the place; the ample parking space; the receiving area that’s appropriate for the cocktails. The simplicity of its interior also makes it ideal for personalization, suitable for themed weddings.
They were particularly helpful when we were scouting for drapes supplier. They sent us several pics of the place with drapes along with the supplier names and that helped us a lot in choosing the best (we got Sensitivity).
Per document, they require a suppliers meeting (Caterer, Drapes, Lights and Sounds) but what happened with us was they just talked to Maui (our AE from Josiah’s). I don’t think they still discussed with Sensitivity considering that Sensitivity is already a “mainstay” for Le Pav. Le Pav also requires main suppliers to sign a sort of agreement but that has been handled by our OTD already.

10+++/10
We honestly think they are underpaid at PhP25K! There is enough number of them during the actual wedding day and despite the number of guests, everything was in order. They have a dedicated staff for the bride, another for the groom, enough number to ensure the church ceremony will be orderly and enough number at the reception.
Everything went smoothly because of them – from their extensively detailed checklists, preps meetings, church rehearsals, conceptualization of the reception programme, to the execution of how we have actually envisioned our wedding day to be.
We particularly appreciate that they were all smiles during the day. You will never see anyone of them looked harassed. They were all dressed appropriately and all of them acted respectably. They were able to manage the people even the VIPs.
More than we appreciate the orderliness of the ceremony, we especially liked the post ceremony activity outside the church. It was picture and video-perfect. This also goes with the very fun and lively entrance of the entourage at the reception – they managed to let them dance!
At the reception, everything went as planned. Registration was in order. Our guestbook was properly circulated for signing. They ensured all our specifications were followed. For the venue – layout, arrangements, table names, cake toppers. In the programme – seating arrangement, entourage entrance, our first dance, AVPs, song numbers, games and prizes for the games, giveaways, the toasts. Name it, everything went smoothly.
It was also surprising that we didn’t get hungry during the wedding day. They ensured we ate properly before the ceremony and before the program. During the entire reception program, there was a staff dedicated to cater to our needs – food, water, someone to hold the bag - we were really treated as the true VIP during our wedding day.
The turnover of stuffs after the reception was very orderly as well. They have the complete checklist of the gifts, the foods left, and all other wedding paraphernalia (candles, matches, bible, pillows, veil, etc).
I guess it is also worth noting that they go along well with all our other suppliers. They are part of the Josiah’s Blissful Occasions; they were the coordinator during the wedding of our videographer (Phoeben); they are friends with our host, Mallory, our lights and sounds provider, Sensitivity, and of the female vocalist of Composed Band, Dianne.

Every peso was worth it with Josiah’s. We booked them as early as March 2009 during the PICC Expo, so what we got was still their 2008 rate (and managed to have the VAT waived). As a promo during the expo, we also got Amande’s Buffet de Chocolat, perfect for our Chocolate and Caramel-themed wedding. Since we have Amande’s for the dessert, the food during cocktails was sort of upgraded (instead of getting the usual food from their dessert menu, we have instead asked for additional food for the cocktails).
It was funny because some of our guests (my relatives actually) thought that the food served during cocktails was all there is, and so they were surprised to find out there’s more during the programme/dinner proper.
The set up was elegant to the very detail – from the couple’s backdrop, VIP tables, guests tables, kiddie tables, buffet set up. It seemed as though we got an event stylist (of course, thanks as well to Sensitivity for providing the drapes, lights and sounds).

Maui is our 3rd AE. Initially it was Nancy Soriano (she resigned and transferred to Likha), then Meanne Agasang (she later on moved to Marketing, still in Josiah’s). We haven’t encountered any problem with Maui, the only reason why I’m giving her a 9 out of 10 rating is that she is not the type who answers emails very promptly, though she executes what has been discussed and agreed upon verbally.
We were handled well by Maui. All our caterer-related specifications were followed – from the menu, (we had several food tastings by the way, and in some of those we even had our siblings and grandmoms tagged along) the floor layout, backdrops, table clothes (Josiah’s had the best lineup of table cloths), to instructions on when to serve the wines and beers, as in every detail.

We were not so particular with the cake, we just want it to match our gold and brown motif. The wedding cake is already included in the Josiah’s package as well.
Initially, we have sent pictures of how we wanted our cakes to look like – just simple designs actually. But when Judy replied to our AE regarding our intended designs, we were surprised that the charges for those designs (considered upgrade) are quite high, it ranges from 3K to 10K (the reason why we’re giving it a 7 out of 10). We find it impractical to upgrade so we just chose from the ‘template’ designs that are included in the Josiah’s package.
We just placed a pair of wedding Mickey & Minnie stuffed toys as the cake topper (c/o my sister) which we and most of our guests considered cute.

Similar to cake, we were not so particular with the bridal car so we just got the one from the Josiah’s package without any upgrade. We got the Benz E-class (E220). The car was ok, I thought the aircon was a bit warmer than I would like it to be during our trip from Astoria Hotel to the church (the reason why I gave them just a 9 out of 10). But it got colder when we were already in the church (while I was waiting for my go signal to step out of the car).
The driver was friendly, and I think he was a fast driver. Though we were the ones to leave the hotel last, we arrived at the church earlier than my groom and my family. From the hotel to the reception, we arrived earlier than our photographer (Our videographer, Phoeben and his wife Gen joined us in the car from the church to the reception because they had a problem with their vehicle).
We exceeded the 3 hour max so we had to pay additional PhP1K.

We have been hearing good feedbacks about Mallory in w@w. Good thing she was among those in the Josiah’s emcee list so we didn’t have to pay any extra to be able to get her for our wedding.
During our first meeting to confirm our booking (we have already sort of pencil booked her thru our AE from Josiah’s), we already knew that she’s the perfect person for the job. A month before our wedding, we happen to attend a friend’s wedding and were surprised to find out that she was the host. It was a very lively programme, and it validated our decision of getting her.
Even our guests commented on her being a very good wedding host. Thumbs up for Mallory!

Our Onsite Video: http://vimeo.com/12524365?hd=1
We have booked Phoeben as early as February 2009, thru w@w reviews and our own review of their past SDEs.
The onsite video can already speak for our high rating for Phoeben. Everyone was left awed with the SDE. It captured all the highlights of the ceremony and a glimpse of our first dance.
I especially loved how the video captured Bryan in tears during his vows, and the funny excited gesture of Bryan in the ‘You may kiss the Bride’ part.
We watched the SDE several more times after the wedding, and it was again played over and over during our separate celebration in Valenzuela (groom’s residence). In all these, the SDE never failed to make us all smile and reminisce what happened during the wedding day.
We have yet to see the final video but we’re definitely sure it would get a high rating from us as well.

We’re very satisfied with Focal Point – beginning from our free prenup, our official prenup, the guestbook, the flashback AVP, the onsite Photo AVP, and the pics that we have received so far (more than three thousand pics! That’s still excluding all the raw pics).
Early last year, we grabbed their free prenup promo – we went to Picnic Grove and Enchanted Kingdom. The shoot was very fun and we were really happy with the output. It reflected the happy couple that we are. We especially loved the Wheel of Fate shot.

We had the official prenup at Club Balai Isabelle in Batangas last Valentines Day. Chris and his wife, Nes were with us for an overnight stay – so we got to have sunset and sunrise pics. What can we say, the shots were magnificent!
For the guestbook, we chose the specific photos to be included in the album, and we also requested to include some shots taken our photography-enthusiast friends. The layout was fantastic! And so is the quality of the printed album itself.

Come wedding day, they arrived early and wasted no time. They captured more photos than what we expected them to. I even guess there came to a point when I was too tired to smile, hehe. The onsite Photo AVP was surprisingly done during the early part of the reception, and it was really nice. It captured the highlights of the preps and the ceremony.

We already have the 4 CDs of all 3,000plus photographer pick pics, (that’s still excluding all other raw pics which was according to them about 7,000plus - who needs a backup photographer?!) and we loved viewing them all, particularly the candid ones.

The moment I talked to Merlene I knew I wanted to have her make my wedding gown. I especially liked the quality of her beadworks that it really stands out when I compare it to other more expensive and more prominent designers.
I love my wedding gown, all the details of it – the fit, the fabric, the design, the beadworks – which was way more than what I expected. The quality was really good, and in every fitting, I really felt that I am an important client.
Why not the perfect 10 though? Just a petty thing, there were at least 2 instances when I went to the shop to discuss specifications, that she mentioned I got a really good price – a price that is no longer applicable had I booked “this” year. Getting a good price was the main reason why we booked her more than a year before the wedding, so I don’t think that should be reiterated over and over.
Oh, and they forgot a little something – a hook that will be used to attach the end of my gown’s train (different of course from the detachable train) at the back of my waist, so that I could freely move during the reception, especially for our first dance. They didn’t forget about my request to put some flowers or ribbons at the back, but they forgot about the hook. Good thing our OTD’s team was ever ready and sewed it just in time before our entrance at the reception.
For my bridal bag, I didn’t want a white one, so I told one of the assistants that I want it with our motif, gold and brown, with a specification that they use the fabric used for the gown of my maid of honor. She was able to take note of the gold and brown, but not the latter detail, so when I saw the bag with all the fine beadworks 2 days before the wedding, it was in the wrong colors. I told them that it was wrong and they gave me the correct colored bag, complete with the fine beadworks…and they even gave me the ‘wrong one’ for my keeping as well :)

I won’t give them a perfect 10 at this one as well, and this is mainly because the stitches in the gown of one of my bridesmaids wasn’t finalized that on the actual wedding day, they had to use several pins. In fairness to Merlene, that’s the only gown out of the 17 that had problem and I think it’s because of the short span of time for fittings and finalizations – my bridesmaid (now my sister in law) arrived from the US just 4 days before the wedding day. And since she got slimmer than when the measurements were taken, they had to do several more adjustments.
A few other members of the entourage had their first and only fitting the week before the wedding but all were still delivered on time, and in good quality. I say it’s good to have a designer with enough manpower so that even tight deadlines are met.
For all the other gowns, particularly of the 3 grandmoms and the 2 moms, perfect –all of them were happy about their gowns. The designs for the 2 moms made them look slimmer too, thus you would know how the moms would feel about their gowns.
I guess it’s also worth mentioning that they handled very well my grandmom. She was pretty difficult during her first fitting and insisted that they used the wrong fabric (which I bet they didn’t because I have with me the swatches of all the fabrics to be used in all the gowns). It’s good that I was able to request that another layer of fabric be added to the almost-done gown of my lola. I have to give Merlene and her assistants a lot of credit on that.

He has the lowest rating among all of our suppliers. Not because he didn’t deliver well, in fact the suit was great – it made me look thin and it is not novelty so I can still wear it on other occasions. Main problem with Jerome is his professionalism – I had my measurement with him three months before the wedding, paid 50% two months before and have texted and called him daily a month before the wedding. My last fitting was two days before the wedding and it didn’t fit me at all.
Jerome’s assistant brought the suit to Astoria at 1pm on the actual wedding date! Two hours before the wedding, I have not tried nor seen the actual suit! I do have a backup suit, but it is a bit old… I am not really keen on wearing it, but just brought it to the hotel just in case. When I got the suit, I didn’t pay the balance – maybe it’s time that he gets a taste of his own medicine…
I do admire the final output , but it is really not worth the anxiety and stress. If you still plan to get him, just ensure that you have a contract with a clause on when you expect the final output as well as a clause for delays. Get his assistant’s contact details as well.

We had our wedding rings done by my tito, a goldsmith. We just gave him the design and money enough for him to buy the materials (gold and little diamonds).
Same tito who did my second engagement ring (coz I lost the first one while swimming in Anawangin).

We saw good designs that matches our motif at their shop in Greenbelt. At the time, the number of pieces readily available wasn’t enough so ordered for more.

Mang Nick used to do the suits of my groom and his relatives whenever there are family occasions. This time, we made him do the vest and pants for our 3 bearers. I believe he had stopped doing suits for boys because of the hard time in their measurements. But since my groom’s family has been his client for years, this one he accepted.

I am one of the many w@wies who booked Val without a trial.
What can I say, I felt so pretty during our wedding day because of Val! I think I looked pretty too Well, you can judge thru the pictures.
We also got him for the hair and makeup of our moms, grandmoms and siblings and everyone was happy for their HMU. Bryan’s mom was so delighted that she even wanted to give Val a PhP500 tip! My father was even joking that what we got was not a make up artist, Val was a magician!

Composed Band was recommended by Juancho of Sensitivity when we told Juancho that we intend to get a band who can play the not-your-typical-wedding-love-songs. No offense to those who are fans of mushy music but we didn’t want that for our wedding. We wanted the wedding celebration to reflect our personalities.
For our songs line up, we chose the more current (or at least “our age”) songs – late 90s boy bands, Chris Brown, Jason Mraz, Jay Sean – all of these, including providing the music for several of our friends who sang in the church and at the reception, Composed band delivered excellently.

4 booth hours + 4 layouts to choose from + 100 pcs bagtags + custom tarpaulin + unlimited photo standees + unlimited pics… all for PhP 12K And let’s not forget that the printouts were really of good quality.
Initially, we booked just for 3 hours, but we requested that the guestbook be exchanged for an additional hour. The touch screen machine and multiple layouts were not yet available at the time that we booked Poof! But when we learned about it, they generously gave both to us.
All our guests had fun at the booth. We were surprised to see that even the lolas, bosses, and some let’s say not-the-game-type-people had their wacky pics with all the props lining up at the booth.

I have to give all the credit to my husband for the flowers during the wedding. He handled all these, from the scouting of possible suppliers, discussions, negotiations (price mostly), and final instructions the day before the wedding.
To preserve the simplicity and elegance of the church, we just wanted simple flowers – a pair of asters in pots at the church entrance, and a running/garden arrangement in the aisle. What can we say, it was really perfect, done exactly how we pictured it.
For the bouquets, they all looked lovely. We really appreciate that the day before the wedding, Rina (our AE from 15-18)even called to update us about the specific flowers that they got – some were I think smaller than the usual so she called to ask us if we wanted it changed.
All these for the price of PhP 15K, yes, PhP 15K (and the initial quote was PhP 22K)– thanks to my husband’s negotiating skills :)

Sensitivity did an excellent job in making our reception look very elegant! What they did was more that what we expected, the venue looked so lovely you would think we got an events stylist.
When we were scouting for a drapes supplier, Sensitivity’s package was more on the higher end in terms of price but when we compared their works (thru pictures) with the other suppliers offering cheaper packages, Sensitivity stood out in terms of quality. Same is true in terms of lights and sounds as we have seen a themed wedding with Sensitivity as the lights and sounds provider – it was magnificent!

PhP75/invite + 10% discount + envelops with our engraved names & the wedding date + free 50 pcs misalette
Jay Cee Kay was one of the last suppliers that we have booked. We booked them during the March expo this 2010 after getting the quotations from almost all the invites supplier in that expo.
The quotations we got from different suppliers ranged from PhP60 – PhP150/pc. Some quotes were really ridiculous I’d say – like one which adds PhP 50/pc for our names to be printed in the front page of the invite, or another which adds PhP 50/envelop. We were about to book this one supplier but we decided against it when my husband saw a sample “would you be my...” card… One card says “would you be my mother of the bride?”…duh?!
Back to Jay Cee Kay, they are not popular in w@w, the people manning the booth were not as professional looking as in the other booths. But their quote was reasonable. And their offices are in the right places – Forbes and Alabang. After a little discussion, we booked them and in the same day we went to their office at Forbes to discuss the specifications. When we got the invites, we were surprised! The quality of the output was more than what we expected – the material smelled fragrant, the same paper used for the main invite was used for the RSVP card & map, even the RSVP card with the map was embossed, our names in the envelop flap were embossed as well. We also liked the box where the invitations were placed.
When we got the misalettes, which we were not expecting much of quality since these are just freebies for booking at the expo (on top of the 10% discount), we were again happy about the quality.

We have booked Astoria as early as a year before the wedding. We actually bought a time share even before we got engaged so our 3d 2n in the 1-bedroom unit (used by the groom for preps) was free. We only had to pay for the 2-bedroom unit used for the bride’s preps.
The units were all spacious, elegantly designed, perfect for wedding preps.
Dealing with them was easy. The free stay should have been actually spent last 2009 but we requested that it be moved to 2010 in time for the wedding. We also requested that the 2 units be adjacent so that moving from one room to another (for us and for the suppliers) during the wedding day would be easy – all granted.
There was only one thing – the day before the wedding, the couple booked at the 2BR unit checked out really late so we had to wait for them…and we were only able to check in only by 6pm. In fairness to Astoria though, they were willing to give us another 2BR unit in another floor – but then again we wanted the 2 units to be adjacent.
Unlimited ideas + help + supplier feedbacks + virtual friendships = Priceless!
A month after we got engaged, we immediately signed up for w@w. The number of emails was overwhelming. I say it was addictive reading the mails. A good number of our suppliers we knew thru w@w – Josiah’s, Mallory, Phoeben, Sensitivity, Val Vilarin – and all of them delivered well in making true our dream wedding.
We will forever be grateful to this community.
