Attractions

Burlington is a fun city. I'll let Caitlin fill in things to do there.

Burlington Bike Path

Burlington, Vermont 05401

The bikepath is one of my favorite parts of Burlington. It extends 9 miles along the water and is a great way to see the many parks of Burlington, bike, rollerblade, run, and walk. There are 3 public beaches along this bikepath. If you go left at the boathouse along the path for 3 miles, you will end up at Oakledge park where there is a beach, playground, tennis courts, and a very large handicap accessible treehouse. If you turn right at the boathouse, you will end up at North Beach after 1.5 miles, and Leddy Park (with a beach) at 3 miles.

The best way to access this path is to go down Main St. or College St. all the way to the water and park at the boathouse parking lot.

Red Rocks Park

Burlington, Vermont

Red Rocks is a park in Burlington that has a beautiful walking path that overlooks Shelburne Bay. It loops around cliffs with pine needle filled paths and is great for dog walking, runs, and walks. It also has great cliff jumping (into water), but you'll have to call me for directions here. To get here from downtown Burlington, go down Main Street towards the water and take a left onto Pine Street. Follow Pine Street for 2 miles or so (past different schools on your left) and at the "T" intersection, take a right onto Queen City Park Road. Shortly after you cross the bridge, take a right onto a dirt road called Central Ave., and there is parking on your right. Here's a website link to directions: http://www.7dvt.com/red-rocks-park

Echo Lake Aquarium

802-864-1848

1 College Street

Burlington, Vermont 05401

This is a beautiful aquarium on the water to the right of the boathouse. While it doesn't compete with Baltimore's aquarium, it is great for people of all ages, especially on a rainy day. It is one of Lillian's favorite places to go. Directions are very easy. If you make your way to College St. in Burlington, go all the way to the bottom of the hill and you will see the boathouse straight ahead. Don't drive past the boathouse, unless you want to go swimming. Parking is on your right, 15 feet before the aquarium, and there's a turnaround/drop-off area for those who need some assistance.

Church Street Marketplace

Church Street

Burlington, Vermont 05401

This is a prime place to be in Burlington. Church Street is a beautiful brick open street, closed off to cars. It is full of wonderful shops, restaurants, and art galleries. If you are looking to do some local shopping and get your taste of Vermont, hit up Apple Mountain, Ben and Jerry's, and the Firehouse Art Gallery near City Hall Park (but still on Church St.).
