This is the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry. If you've ever wondered why Da5id is such a geek, this is why. This place is great! All kinds of buttons to push, things to see, and a fricking submarine!
It's about a $10 cab ride from downtown maximum or $1.70 via the #4 or #14 bus from downtown. Admission is $9 and I'd plan to be there for at least 4 hours.
This site features maps of microbreweries throughout Oregon and in Portland; write to them for their brewpub guide.
Da5id's note: If you like beer, we like you in PDX. We have, at last count, 112,313,251 microbreweries per capita. All but about 3 are GREAT. Rogue Brewery and Henry's are right in the neighborhood as well as McTarnihan's. I've been to the ones I've mentioned and the staff and people are always fun, interesting, and worth a 20 minute conversation about the weather.
Explore the plains and rain forests of Africa, the Alaskan tundra, the rocky coast of Peru and the crest of the Cascade Mountains—all in a day.
The Pacific Northwest’s oldest museum, with a collection spanning 35 centuries of American, Asian, European, Native American and contemporary art.
Ceci's favorite place to visit when in Portland.
Occupying a full city block of downtown Portland, Powell’s features over 68,000 square feet of new, used, and rare books.

The Pittock Mansion provides visitors from around the world a chance to experience the splendor and appeal of our amazing City of Portland through one of a few publicly accessible historic homes. The mansion is a perfect destination to instill a sweeping impression of all that makes Portland memorable: beauty, progress, citizen involvement, preservation.
IF the weather is so obliging, take a leisurely stroll or have a picnic among over 9,000 roses overlooking the city’s skyline and Mt. Hood.
5.5 acres featuring five traditional garden styles, the internationally-recognized Japanese Gardens are considered some of the most authentic you’ll find outside of Japan.
Da5id's note:
No... not THAT kind of Pearl.
This is a new (to me) area of PDX that has always been pretty neat and now is just a little better (or worse depending on your point of view).
Lots of great shops... such as the greatest REI in the world. The Rogue Brewery is in this area. From the Govenor it's a short walk or a quick cab ride. This is outside walking and "we" don't close for rain or snow so if you're feeling adventurous and packed a coat, I heartily suggest it.
And call me, I'll go with.
