Cecilia & Jason

Our Story

Love is patient, love is kind
It does not envy,
it does not boast,
it is not proud.
Love is not rude,
it is not self-seeking,
it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil,
but rejoices with the truth,
It always trusts, always hopes,
always perseveres...
Love Never Ends

About Cecilia

About Cecilia

I was raised in the small town of Granbury, Texas located 45 minutes southwest of Fort Worth. After graduating high school in 1995 I moved to Arlington, Texas, where I have now been living for over 12 years. I have been working in the airline business for about 4 years now and I love it!

My mother is a huge part of my life. She has inspired me and has been my rock, even in her own difficult times. My father has taught me many things, probably unintentional in some ways. He too is a major part in my life and I love him dearly. I have four brothers and two sisters in law that I love unconditionally. I also have two beautiful nieces and two of the most handsome nephews in the world that I live for. I have been blessed with a huge extended family and some of the best friends you can ask for in this world.

How we met

How we met

Jason and I met through friends in March of 1998. We both lived in Granbury at one point and never knew of each other. When I first moved to Arlington, we lived a street apart and had never crossed paths until friends introduced us at a party in Granbury. We would see each other at gatherings here and there, but never really thought of it as anything other than friends. Jason and I became close when I was going through a difficult time in my life. We began spending everyday together and had our first official date on June 5, 1998.

The Engagement - May 19, 2007- South Padre Island, TX

Let's go back to Thursday May 17, 2007. Jason and I spent almost all day getting ready for our trip to South Padre Island. My best friend's little brother was tying the knot on the beach there. After getting all of our things together, Jason and I decided to head to Granbury and stay the night to save a little time on our drive since we would be heading to SPI on 281. We got to bed about 11:00pm. The alarm came pretty quick at 4:30am! We got out the door about 5:00am. We spent most of the drive talking and laughing, which was great. A few stops and about 8.5 hours later we were on South Padre Island. As soon as we got in we went up to Jen & Jer's room and tried to get an idea of what we would be doing that night. The rehearsal was not until 9:00 pm so we decided to take a short nap and then walk around and check the shops out for a bit. Dinner was set for 7:30 at Dorado's. Then it was off to the rehearsal and then we headed back to the room to have some drinks and get ready for the big day.

Saturday, May 19, 2007. We woke up pretty early and decided to go check out parts of the island we had not seen. Then it was off to breakfast and back to more shopping and touring. The wedding went off great and Tony was a married man! After the ceremony they had a small dinner/reception at The Sheraton Hotel. The food was great and the couple looked even more in love than before. All weekend I kept thinking "I can't believe Tony Canales got married before I did!!". He's like a little brother so it seemed funny that he was married before me. After eating, Jen and I went and made the honeymoon room a little cozy and ready for the bride and groom. We headed back down to the lobby where everyone was waiting. A few people were leaving so we said our good byes. All the while I had no idea what was about to happen. As we are walking out to get on "The Bus", (the 15 passenger van the Canales' rented to drive) I hear everyone start talking about how they want to go walk the beach. Still no idea what would come of it. Jen grabbed her cam corder and Jer his camera. All I'm thinking is we are gonna go walk and take some video and pictures. If you know me well, then you know that is something I just love to do....take pictures! So we head to the beach directly behind The Sheraton. As we are walking towards the ocean, everyone stops in their tracks. I see Jen is fooling with her camera talking about how she can't get the light to work. Jer is talking about how beautiful the beach is.Jason in the meantime, is holding my left hand twiddling with my promise ring(which I wear on my ring finger). I didn't think anything of it, because its something he always does when we hold hands. All of a sudden I feel my ring come off and I ask Jason "Why are you taking my ring off?". "I'm not!" he says. "Um, yes you are!" I say. About this time I hear Jackson say "Oh no, He just dropped it!". So, immediately I look down to see if I can locate it as does everyone else, or so they pretended to be. That's when I see Jason drop to one knee and say "Will you marry me?". "Are you serious?" I ask. "Yes, Will you marry me?" he says again. By this time I am so choked up and starting to cry. "YES!!!!!" I say in a shaky voice. He immediately puts my ring on and gets up to hug and kiss me. Clapping and Cheers are heard all around. Jason and I hug and kiss and hug and kiss. Soon, everyone joined in the congratulatory hugs and the rest is history!

I could not have imagined a more perfect proposal. There was no fancy stuff, no foo foo stuff, no corny poems or sayings, just him being himself and saying exactly what he wanted.

A special Thanks to Jen, Jer, Rob, Gloria, Jackson and Clay for being there to support Jason, and making sure we had this moment for the rest of our lives. I love the pictures! The video is hard to see and pretty much all you hear is waves, but its the thought of them doing that, that counts. Thanks guys!
