We have routinely used RBC Travellers Insurance and thankfully have never had occasion to use it. However, we do not travel without it.

Some group benefit plans cover out of country medical – check with your HR department to see if you are covered. Group benefit plans will not cover lost luggage or cancellation insurance.

Some gold/platinum credit cards do offer coverage – check with your local bank branch to ensure that you are covered for all possible scenarios.

RBC Insurance premiums are costed based several factors including age of passenger, medical history, amount they wish to cover prior to travel, duration of trip and province they live in.

The most common type of insurance purchased is the Deluxe Package however below is some information on the three most popular policies:

Package Coverage:

Deluxe Package
This insurance provides Cancellation & Interruption (Interruption only if you have selected the 'no cancellation' option), Flight Accident, Travel Accident, Baggage & Personal Effects, AND Emergency Medical. It also offers, at no extra charge, extra protection just in case your luggage is delayed, and emergency medical insurance for an infant travelling with you. Please refer to the Package coverage chart in your policy booklet for sums insured and other details.

Non-Medical Package
This insurance provides Cancellation & Interruption (Interruption only if you have selected the 'no cancellation' option), Flight Accident, Travel Accident, and Baggage & Personal Effects (same as above, but without Medical). It also offers, at no extra charge, extra protection just in case your luggage is delayed. Please refer to the Summary of Insurance coverage chart in your policy for sums insured and other details.

Classic Medical
This insurance provides unlimited coverage of the eligible emergency medical expenses that you incur while away from your home province/territory, and that exceed the benefits of government health insurance and private coverage. This essential coverage comes with a full range of benefits
including the round-the-clock services of Assured Assistance Inc., Pay-Assist® to ensure you are not out-of-pocket for your eligible expenses, and referral to Medirect®, our proprietary network of fully accredited hospitals and doctors. Please refer to the Summary of Insurance coverage

Normally insurance is discussed at final payment however it can be added at anytime. Approximate cost per person under 59 years of age covering up to 1500 and living in Ontario is $100+PST for Deluxe and $86+PST for non-medical. Rates are estimates only and require individual costing at time of inquiry.
