Cheryl & Parker

Our Story

We have so many funny stories to share, it's hard to pick which ones to post! (or which ones we are allowed to post?)

How We Met

Parker and I were set up to meet by my mom and his friend Casey who worked with my mom at the bank. Parker found out I was single and asked my mom why she never mentioned she had a single daughter. So she brought in photos of me to show Parker - and she picked the UGLIEST pictures! I had no makeup and my roots desperately needed to be done. So he's unimpressed, but takes my number anyway to be polite. (By the way, I specifically told Casey and my mom not to give him my number.) He called me on Friday night after I told Casey that I didn't want him to call me that night because I already had plans - and he asks me out. Of course, I turn him down but he was supposed to already know I had plans. Well he thought he was off the hook and then I called him the following Tuesday just to talk. We talked on the phone for almost 2 hours and he ended up asking me to lunch for the next day. We went to Ruby Tuesday's for lunch and that was it! It didn't take long for us to be head over heels for each other - we are both so blessed to have each other!

Engagement Story

Parker proposed to me at sunset on the Battery on Monday July 23, 2007. The day started as a regular Monday. I called him from work to see if he had plans for us for the evening because I wanted to go shopping after work. He told me that was no problem. Then he called me after 5 while I was still at work asking me to come home because he wanted to see Harry Potter. I was slightly annoyed because it was already so late and I had already made plans to shop. But, because I love my Parker, I worked late and then rushed home so we could go "look at this bat job on the battery" and then go to the movie. We get downtown and we are looking for the house that the bats are supposed to be in and the bats never start coming out. I'm pushing Parker to hurry up because I want to get popcorn before the movie starts and FINALLY bats start coming out of a house about 1/2 block down from where we are. So I start walking down there, we're both looking up in the sky at the bats coming out and while I am still looking up, he calls me. I turn around, and he is down on one knee. My first thought is he's ducking so the bats don't hit us in the head, but I quickly realize what he's doing. Naturally, I'm shocked and excited and completely forgot to say yes! He then took me to first restaurant we ever had dinner at and we spent the rest of the evening sharing with our friends and family on the phone and enjoying our favorite red wine (lots of it, as a matter of fact.) I can't believe he pulled off a surprise!
