Chet & Melanie met back in 2005 in high school. Chet transferred from McKeel Academy of Technology to Lake Gibson Senior High school. They met each other through friends during the lunch hour. They became friends quickly and they found out that they had a lot in common. Chet at the time was a senior and Melanie was a junior at Lake Gibson High. After Chet had graduated in 2005, Melanie and Chet rarely communicated with each other.
In late 2005, Chet had moved away from home and he began attending Devry University in Orlando. In late 2006, Melanie moved away from home and began attending Valencia Community College in Orlando. They both didn't talk for a while. Later on, in late 2006, Chet moved back home and began attending Polk Community College. He met up with Melanie's sister, Michelle, and they became very good friends. They would always talk about Melanie, and she would even become the highlight of their conversation. Michelle and Chet were also good friends back in high school too. Michelle gave Chet Melanie's contact information, so he was able to get back in touch with her quickly.
While Melanie was still living in Orlando, Chet and Melanie began communication with each other again through AOL IM back in December of 2006. They chatted a lot. They talked for many hours in a day. Their liking towards each other began to grow quickly, as they started to realized how much they had in common and how well they got along with each other. When Melanie would visit Lakeland, she would hang out with Chet and her sister, and they would have lots of fun talking and hanging out at her sister's work place together.
When Melanie moved back home in August of 2007, she began attending Polk Community College with Chet and her sister. Chet and Melanie began to grow closer to each other and they established a relationship on August 24th, 2007.
Saturday, we woke up around 8 and left around 9 a.m. to get to the Morikami. Between 8-9 we went to Chet's house to pick up a few things and his parents were "supposed" to go, but he said his mother was sick. So I was kinda bummed at the time. On our drive there, we stopped at Wendy's near Delray Beach and the food was amazing! It was hot, fresh and very delicious! After we ate, we were very close to the Morikami, so we took Jog road to our destination. The area was beautiful. Rich people lived there, especially older folks that are retired! It was crazy to see so much high class haha. Once we got to the Morikami, we walked in, payed for our visit and then began our walk in the Garden. We walked around the whole park about 3 times before he proposed. Our favorite part in the gardens is the shaded "bamboo tunnel". Once we walked in there on our third time around, he stopped walking. He pulled my right shoulder for me to look at him and I glanced at him. He spoke and said, "I cant wait for us to start our lives together, I love you." It was very heartfelt and meaningful. I smiled and hugged him tightly, shocked and excited by his wonderful words. He pulled me back and he spoke again, saying "I can't wait for us to start our lives together." and he said more heartfelt and amazing words. He then spoke up and said, "Melly I have one question to ask you..." and my heart felt like it was pumping out of my chest. I was shocked, happy, excited, etc. I felt every feeling in one moment and it was amazing. He then got on one knee, pulled out a little black box with a ring and said, "Melly will you marry me?" His eyes were watery red, his hands were shaking and you could tell that he was the most happiest man alive at that very moment. It happened so fast that time did stand still and all I remember was feeling feelings that I have never ever experienced before. It was beyond love, excitement and happiness. It was like all three of those in one and it was amazing, words can't even describe it.
I said "Yes." I hugged him and he placed an amazing, beautiful ring on my finger. As he stood up and held me close in his arms, I cried silently behind my sunglasses. I cried more with those sunglasses on, I could feel the wet tears sitting at the bottom of the sunglasses frame on my cheek. I was in so much shock and awe that I felt queasy and I felt like I had literally lost my mind. It took me a while to gather and collect my thoughts again. After he proposed, we sat down and I asked him "How.. how did you do it?" He explained everything to me. His mother was never sick, it was just an elaborate ruse! We both sat there, smiling, feeling the best we have ever felt, lost in this thing called "amazing love."
