Amber & Chris

The Proposal

How we got engaged...

Chris was extremely creative in his planning of the proposal. Being the detailed person that he is, he had started planning how he was going to do it from the moment he and Amber started dating. He just waited for the correct opportunity to do so.

The evening of March 1 presented that opportunity. Amber flew back to Texas for the weekend to participate in the wedding of one of her best friends. When she returned to Charleston, she had no idea what was going to happen that night! Waiting at the house were flowers - one lavender rose and eight red roses. Chris then told Amber that the lavender rose signified love/enchantment at first sight and the red roses represented the eight months we had been dating.

After explaining the roses, he pulled out a CD case from behind them. In the case was a CD with a picture of the morning that we were in Jamaica along with a list of songs we had sent each other during the time we were living in different states. Next to the list of songs was the date each one was sent and the last song on the list (he made sure to point out) was The March with Summer of 2010 on it.

At this point, even though Amber had already been crying, she clued into what was going on; however, Chris had one more surprise. We walked upstairs where Amber found that Chris had spread rose petals from the stairs to a private beach that he had created in the living room. It was on this private beach that Chris asked Amber to marry him and spend the rest of their lives together. (And don't worry, Chris planned well and put the sand on a tarp so it would be much easier for him to clean up:))
