This is how it all started...
I'd just come out of a relationship... my friend Moriah said she had a guy (chris) she wanted me to meet. She gave him my web address and he and I started emailing back and forth. After 2 days, we decided to meet. I did this thinking he and Moriah had been friends for a while. Nope they'd never even met! haha at first we started out friends. He even had flowers delivered to my work while he was on vacation in Washington. Took me to my first haunted house! This was September 2006...
Just to set the story straight, I knew i liked him from about November on... he was adamant about not wanting a relationship, so i never pushed it. (well not yet anyway!) In January, we started hanging out more and more... by the first part of February, we were hanging out almost every day! on Valentines day he surprised me with flowers, chocolates and lunch at Johnny Carino's. (my fav place!) we spent the morning and early afternoon together and then... he kissed me... WOW no joke... was hooked... totally convinced that i could (and might already) love this man...
I was at his house helping him clean... his dad called and they were chatting about lots of things... well i heard his dad teasing him about wanting grandkids (chris is an only child) and i heard chris say "kids weren't happening any time soon, but that other thing we've been talking about might happen sooner than planned." at first i thought it was nothing... sort of! haha later that day we were driving around and he asked me if i wanted to go on a carriage ride downtown, or go for a ride in the mountains... carriage ride sounded great, but not in the middle of the day, so i said mountains. later he said that he'd found some old rings of his and that they don't fit anymore and said that he used to wear like a size 3??? hahaha teasing him i told him that there's no way he wore a 3 cuz i wear a 7. (in hind sight this should have been the kicker! haha sneaky though) by this time i was getting rather suspicious! thinking about whether or not i could believe that he was going to propose... i tried talking myself out of it, trying to not get my hopes up... then monday rolls around... we woke up that morning and he looked at me and said "gosh there's something i want to tell you but i can't" rolled over and put a pillow over his face... HOW RUDE! you can't say something like that!!! so i ignored it and went to work... all day long he was acting weird (we email each other all day). wouldn't explain why... then he sent me an email saying that we had plans and i needed a sitter. if anyone asked we were going to memory grove on a carriage ride... OK GIG'S UP! I KNEW IT!!! i couldn't focus all day... i told everyone who walked by... haha i was blushing all day and couldn't think straight... after work he came and we went to memory grove. great night for a carriage ride. weather was great... we were just talking during our ride. honestly i don't remember anything we said haha... everytime he'd move his arms, i'd get all giddy... i knew he was going to propose, but i didn't want to say anything and bust his surprise... finally we got to the turn around spot and still no ring... i was getting nervous that maybe i'd psyched myself into thinking that he was going to propose... then he asked me... i couldn't do anything or say anything but just kiss him... even knowing it for like 4 days, i was still in shock and totally speechless... needless to say i said yes!
Ok a little background on why we ran to the courthouse... first off we're paying for most of this wedding ourselves. and paying for 2 separate apartments, daycare, plus wedding... wasn't going to happen... PLUS! he was spending almost every night at my place anyway cuz we didn't like being apart hahaha... sappy i know! :) so we gave our families a day and a half notice and ran to the courthouse... we got married April 25th in front of our families... only friend who came was Melanie (my matron of honor) and she took pictures for us.
This past weekend, the 30th of June thru the 1st of July, Chris and I went camping up TibbleFork Canyon. It was great! had a blast! got filthy dirty and we went fishing all day Saturday and I got fried! we were lazy and didn't take any pictures the whole time we were up there, SORRY! I caught the first fish!!! Chris caught the most and the biggest one though so that makes up for it! I also caught my thumb with a freaking fish hook. That wasn't very pleasant! We had some fantastic bratwurst while we were up there. Dirt makes camp food much better! haha over all the trip was great! but we did learn that our mats for sleeping are HORRIBLE!! neither of us got much sleep and now we're paying for it. sore backs and extremely tired. but all in all it was a great weekend and we really needed to just get away for a couple of days. Thanks to my mom for taking Coen for the weekend!
