Trouble. Lots of trouble. The people below are pure trouble. But they've also seen us through the best and worst of times. They are our dearest friends. We are very lucky to have them in our wedding and in our lives.
Jason will be performing a solo rendition of the Hava Nagila at the wedding. When not pursuing his Live Hebrew musical career, he's one of the best general surgeons in Alabama.
Jason has been my best friend for nearly two decades. From seventh grade on, he's seen me through the worst and celebrated with me through the best. From Jason, I learned the meaning of friendship and art of being a gentleman.
Wendell will be carted off to the emergency room shortly after the cutting of the cake. When not helping the mentally ill at George Washington Hospital, he can be found playing volleyball with the GW women’s volleyball team.
I’ve also known Wendell since junior high school. He’s the most dependable friend I have. From Wendell, I’ve learned the power of laughter and the value of first aid.
Tai will headline the evening’s karaoke session. My cousin and best-mate, he’ll be flying in from London to help keep the ceremony in (dis)order. When not pretending to be a solicitor, he wrecks havoc on the usually proper community of single London lassies.
Growing up, Tai was the closest thing I had to a brother. Watching Tai interact with his sisters, I learned the responsibility and bond of family.
Billy will be the man with the biggest smile in the wedding, perhaps even bigger than my own. He radiates positive energy. That’s why kids will love him as he embarks on his new career as a teacher in Boston.
Up sketchy cliffs and through monstrous waves, I’ve trusted my life to this man time and time again. When I’m in a tough situation, Billy is the person I want at my side. He is the paragon of living passionately. He was and continues to be my mentor on how to treat the ones we value and love.
All my life, I’ve watched my best friends grow up with their siblings: Jason has his big bro Tony, Wendell has Kendall, Billy got his sib Patrick, and Tai has three little sisters. Watching them grow up together, I’ve always wanted a brother. Soon I’ll have one.
Jeff is about as mellow of a little brother as one can find. He’s always treated me like family, and soon we’ll be brothers-in-law.
Tanya is my loving cousin. She used to be my little mei-mei when we were growing up together in Taipei. But as we grew up I began to look up to her as the role model. She is the one who encouraged me to study in U.S., the one who opened my eyes to the possibilities in career and life, and the one who continues to inspire me to be a better person. I always know who to turn to for good advice.
I met Jessie during freshman year of college. She was a sweet gal who let me borrow her notes in our freshman history class when I was struggling with English. Since then, we’ve been fast friends. We’ve shared good times, survived bad, and laughed with each other all along the way. She is a caring and great friend.
Ai-Ling is my closest friend from growing up in Taipei. Our personalities are different yet similar. She was the kid who loved reading and writing, and was well behaved. I was the kid who loved singing and dancing, and would cause trouble. Yet we got along so well and learned so much from one another. She’s always there for me, even though we live so far apart.
Andrea is Chris’s very sweet and thoughtful cousin. Vibrant, intelligent, and all about femme power, Andrea had gone out of her way to make me one of the cousins. She can’t wait to add another woman to the family. And I can’t wait to be part of hers.
Jamie is my travel partner and style consultant. We’ve flown around the globe together. Everywhere she goes, she brings smiles to people around her. She represents pure joy in my life. I can’t believe she moved to Los Angeles for her fashion career! Now I’m stuck traveling with Chris.
