Chris & Pris

Our Story

Like all couples, there is always a love story to tell... here's ours!

Of First Impressions

What's our first impressions of each other? Hahha... Well, if you happen to wonder what do we think of each other when Chris and I first met, read his blog to find out more. Hahah..

How It All Began...

The Mayang Sari Email

Although Chris and I are in the same Church and in the same unit, we barely spoke more than 10 words to each other for the last 2 years of knowing each other's existence, prior to being a couple. Then..it all began with an email.

Read on in Chris' blog below:

Meet The 'Fockers'

And so after that fateful email, we progressed to knowing each other beyond 10 words and realised that there's so much we both have in common! And after praying things through while getting to know each other better and *ahem* might I say an intense courtship (Haha! I am sure Chris would agree on that! Haha!), we're an item! Praise God!

So one fine day, evening rather...I made an appointment for Chris to meet my family. How did it go? Well, I'll let Chris' blog tell you all about it:

The Proposal

The Proposal

It was the 5th month of being together as a couple. I have been coping with pressure and stress at work and Chris said he wants to buy me a simple dinner to celebrate our 5th month of being together.

Little did I know...the simple dinner turned out to be...

First Fitting

We went for our first fitting of the evening gown today. It was the first time we see Pris' evening gown come to form from being sketched on paper. When we saw it we thought it looked so much better than we had imagined or rather than Pris imagined it to be. =) We took some photos of the evening gown but we're not posting it as yet since its only 60% done. Hehehe.

The lady said I lost weight cos the gown was loose (I seriously doubt it, think they made it bigger just in case) and said I have to maintain my current weight as they are gonna alter it to fit better. *Gulps* Our next fitting would be in Nov and so will our photoshoot.. great! Gives us more time to lose whatever weight and get fit. Hehe.

Mind on overdrive

I hope it's normal!
Mind on overdrive

Okie.. so as I type this as a bride-to-be, I have about 6 months to our big day. At this point, our wedding plans and actions have come to a speed of 20km/h from I would say about 80km/h previously. These are the following things that have been done for our wedding planning thus far:

1. Bridal Shop found & have placed a deposit.
2. Project Slimming has started for a good few months now for both Chris & I and we intend to incorporate a healthy lifestyle as part of our long term plans.
3. Wedding helpers selected and erm mostly informed. Hehe. =)
4. Evening Gown and Photo shoot in November.
5. Some songs selected for our wedding march in, reprise, 2nd change to evening gown and erm... while dining?
6. Wedding invites and favours ordered, hopefully to have them ready by November.
7. Photographer for actual day engaged.
8. Florist engaged.
9. Found the "ring pillow" we wanted.
10. Guest List almost summarised.
11. Skeleton of actual day programme drafted by Chris.
12. Hair Stylist for actual day booked.
13. Our parents have met each other. And Thank God it went well... Phew! =P
14. Pastor's booked.
15. Shopped for our wedding bands already but have not bought it yet.
16. Researched on our matrimonial room items.
17. Thank you message to our helpers penned down.

I can't think of any other things as yet and as you may tell, from the list above a number of things can only happen around November. So my mind's gone restless and have started thinking about other stuff on what else can I do for our wedding, what else we have not covered for our wedding preparations, our matrimonial room, as well as ideas for Chris' upcoming birthday, Church Camp '08 publicity clips...In simple words.. I like to plan. Hehehe.

I have all these ideas bubbling in my head that I wonder when they can come to form especially for the wedding. March is a long time to me - to see my plans come to form that is! Heheh. So it's pretty tough for my mind to take a break and let it relax for awhile. I guess you can say it keeps me alive to plan. =P

Planning is one thing... I'm a worrier too. Hehe. I keep having this weird 'fear' of not being able to be a radiant bride or looking like I'm in shambles in my wedding dresses. Then recently, I had a dream that one of the prongs on my engagement ring came loose and the diamond fell out. I brought it back to the shop to get it fix and they said it was beyond what they can do and when I turned my head, Chris wasn't happy. At that moment I woke up. Thank God it was only a dream!

I think the one assuring thing as a Christian bride is that I can rely fully on the one person entirely to make my wedding a magical one, other than Chris of cos. Hehe. I can rely on my God entirely to comfort me, to assure me and to grant me peace as well as wisdom on how to go about handling this without becoming a stressed up bride. Don't get me wrong, Chris has been a wonderful support throughout this period, getting involve in every aspect of our wedding and doing things together with me. And I thank God for Chris! What I meant to say is that throughout this wedding preparation, most of the time when there are too many decisions and choices to be made. I turn to God for an answer for almost everything in this planning. I want Him to be in-charge of my wedding and it draws me closer to Him seeing how much He has done for us throughout this time.

I'm still learning (and planning) as a bride-to-be, but I know that as a Christian bride, I cling onto Him to carry me through this time to our wedding day and definitely through our marriage.

And The First Prize Goes To....

And The First Prize Goes To....

Chris and I attended a wedding show at Fort Caning, The Legends recently. This is the first grand prize we won as a couple at our first wedding show! Praise God! Read all about what God did for us!!

The meaning of 1st October 2007

How time flies!

Once upon a time, a year and 1 day ago (today is 2nd Oct'07 as I write this down), Chris told me on 1st October 2006 that he was erm... how should I phrase this..okie, he has taken a fancy to me (I'm blushing to myself as I type this..heee)and would like to get to know me better. I still remember it was after I accompanied Reina and her cousins to Tertiary service on a Saturday that Chris called me when I reached home and told me that. Of cos, prior to that, we've been talking mostly via MSN and phone as well.

I think the only thing I remembered after he 'fess up was telling him this: "You ruined my Children's day!". Wahahaha...

A year and 1 day later, we are already in the midst of planning for our wedding. How time flies!

Chris just text me earlier reminding me of this little incident that happened a year ago and my response to him was still: "Ya and you spoilt my Children's Day.." and his response? "But blessed your life!"...hehehe..what can I say? I can't deny that God blessed my life by sending Chris. =)

But bless Chris even more by sending me? Wahaha.. JUST KIDDING! =P

The Big 35!

Chris' Birthday
The Big 35!

And so the story goes that much planning went into pampering the birthday boy who turned 35 recently. =)

My ideas were formed while I was lying half asleep in a facial room one day. I wanted a wholesome birthday celebration for Chris that will pamper him in any way possible. So after the lady at the facial salon tore off the mask on my face (yes, I really mean she tore it off..), my ideas were formed. I booked a facial appointment for the 2 of us on 13th October 2007 to pamper Chris on his birthday by bringing him for a facial appointment. =) Amazing what a facial can do!

Knowing his love for all-day breakfast and steak, I did some research online and noted to bring him to Menoti @Raffles Shopping Center for their all-day breakfast. And made an appointment at Hooha @Pasir Panjang to treat him to a nice hearty steak dinner since Hooha is touted to be famous for their steaks. =) And to top it off, I made a mental note to bring Chris to Cold Rock @Holland Village that opened recently and had really delicious ice creams.

Also, knowing his preference for handmade cards and handmade items, I made 2 handmade cards for him. One from a small mint sweet tin and another as per the picture attached. Hehehe. I am not that creative but I guess he would be able to appreciate my effort since I am not someone who makes cards!! And for your information, Chris' dream occupation when he was young was to be a secret agent, hehhe, I made a card where he can be a secret agent like James Bond! Heee...

In addition, I asked a colleague of mine who is quite good in playing around with photoshop as well to help on another item which I was about to present it to him, it's a photoframe with his baby picture as though he was on the cover of a magazine. Just for the fun of it. =) Ohohoh... and knowing that he has been working out daily at the gym to look good for the wedding, I bought him 2 dri-fit Adidas tops so that he can look good and feel good (as in dri-fit doesn't trap perspiration la) while exercising and got him a sports watch to help him in his exercise, also to reward him for his dilligence for wanting to look good for the wedding. (Pssst.. he's been going to the gym EVERYDAY without fail, now that deserves some pat on the back ya?).

Well, how can a birthday be without a cake? So I bought an Awfully Chocolate cake to celebrate his birthday at the stroke of midnight. Goodness!!! I have NEVER done so much for anyone's birthday before and it really is the BIG 35 eh? =) It was pretty exhausting to tell you the truth.

The effort was all worth it because the birthday boy was grinning from ear to ear on his birthday and his face was still glowing days after the facial. Heheh.

Love Rekindled

Proverbs 11:25
Love Rekindled

Recently, a brother in church:- Soo Guan asked me if Chris and I are available to share with the couples in MPC on how we have involved God in our wedding preparation and how God helped us when faced with wedding traditions and customaries that may not be biblical in our wedding prep. Chris & I jumped at that opportunity cos God has been really good to us in our wedding preparation and we wanna testify of His grace!

So on 17th November 2007, we made our way down to Church office at Joo Chiat where MPC was held. I was bubbling inside to share many many good things that God has done for us. When it was time for us to share, Chris shared first and then I shared later. As I was sharing about what God has done for us, about us wanting God to be our wedding coordinator, wanting Him to be involved in every aspect of our wedding since He brought us together, an overwhelming sense of gratefulness came upon me and I nearly teared. I took a deep breathe and continued sharing with the couples that as we involve God in our wedding preparations, as we seek Him in every decision we come across, we see how much God wants to participate, how much God wants to be involved in our lives and how much He yearns for us to engage Him.

As I shared with the couples, my love for Him rekindled. I had that kind of "falling in love" sensation, something tingling actively inside me. To be reminded that the Almighty is crazy about us, that simply left me in awe. And so it's true that when Proverbs 11:25 says ".... he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed".

It reminded me of this pic (picture adapted from the internet) of michaelangelo's portait of God & Adam. Notice how much God's body, His finger is outstretched towards Adam whereas Adam's position is reclined? It simply depicts how crazy God is about us!

The Groom-to-be Has Something To Say...

Wow! 4 more months to our wedding! It's almost Christmas and nearly a year has gone by already. What's the scoop from the groom-to-be since he proposed until now when we are getting closer to becoming husband and wife? Check out Oonie's blog:

Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas...

Eve of Christmas 2007
Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas...

Arh.... the sweet smell of holies in the air...fresh snow..Mmmmm..Christmas is round the corner. Wait!! Hang on!!! What am I sprouting about?! I'm in Singapore with no holies grown anywhere (maybe in floral shops perhaps) and no snow!! Hehehe. Alright alright, I was just imagining things and coining the image up. Heee... =P

Today is the eve of Christmas. I woke up feeling a tad cold as the chilly morning wind blew over my face as I lie lazily in bed. I have to go to work this morning but neither that nor the chilly wind deterred me from feeling chirpy. =) Yesterday we had a fantastic service held at The Rock, Suntec City and many amazing things happened during that service and after.

My elder bro said he will come to our Church for service next week and a friend has accepted Christ into her life. Praise the Lord! After service, we went for lunch at Carl's Junior and it was there that I saw 2 familiar faces joining us for lunch. Weeleong & Yixi appeared out of no where to my surprise as I thought they were still in China! It certainly is delightful seeing familiar faces once more.

As we munched on our gargantuan Carl's junior burgers (so much for the name 'junior!), Chris received a call from our bridal shop saying that our wedding photos are ready for selection! WooOo HoOO! Hehehe. It's like their Christmas present to me. Heee. I've attached one pic of our indoor photoshoot here. This was taken by Chris when the photographer from the bridal studio were snapping me.

So happy that things are falling into place!! The wedding preparations are progressing well. Thank God! But truly... as much as I delight in knowing that my wedding preparations are progressing well..nothing beats worshipping in God's house together with your own family members. It was a sight to behold for me seeing my Mum & brother raising their hands in respond to God's call. It was an even lovelier sight to see that the chairs were being emptied as people came forth in respond to the altar call at the church service. It was an overwhelming sensation yesterday. So overwhelming that the feeling lingered on today in me.

When God moves, one can't help but be swept by His love and actions. Christmas 2007 will hold many special moments in my heart. The overwhelming sensation will be carved into memory as days go by. I can't wait for our Christmas party later with my caregroup mates in the evening. I'm bubbling inside with excitement and joy.... =) as we celebrate the true meaning of Christmas - God's love for us by giving us His one and only son, Jesus on Christmas day. The best gift ever for me!

Wishing all of you and your love ones a Blessed Christmas filled with joy, peace and most of all love!

A Step Closer

Hello 2008
A Step Closer

And so we hit 2008. 2007 left in a hurry and after an overdose of Christmas food and Christmas parties, followed by another series of New Year parties...we arrived at the reality of 2008. Yes, one of it is returning to work. Bleah... hehe.

I logged onto this website recently and realised that the number of days to our wedding has gone down from 3 digits to 2. And a mental calculation said we have approx 3 months to our big day. We listed down a number of things to do for our wedding and it looks decent.

Two important things we have done to usher in the New Year was to commit our 2008 to the Lord and also to register online with the Registry of Marriage (You'll need to register like 3 months in advance or something).

Chris did the registration last night and I received emails from both him and the Registry informing me that our application is successful. I have attached a reply from the Registry here. To me, looking at this slip means in a flash it would be 28 March 2008 and I may panic on my wedding day itself(I can't panic now as I am sipping my caramel skinny latte). =)

Looking at this slip also means we are another step closer to becoming one as husband and wife...especially when you receive a legal slip indicating that your application for the Marriage Certficate is successful and the Registry is preparing the necessary legal document for you. To me, it's not just a step closer, but a significant step to becoming one.

It's Coming Together Now...

Update on wedding prep

Well well well, it's 17th January 2008 and it seems that the wedding stuff and preparation is picking up its pace again. We attended Jay&Dee's wedding last Saturday and after the wedding, we headed back to Chris'. Upon arriving at his place, his Dad told us that Chris has a parcel package that was delivered in the morning.

Standing at the door, we glanced at the parcel and I leaped into joy immediately because it just means that our wedding invites and favours have finally arrived! *cartwheels* Eagerly, we ripped the huge parcel open like kids on boxing day and inspect out goods. Smashing! It's all intact and we like what we see. Thank God! =)

Let me do a quick check on what's been done and what else is left:-
1. Informed our friends of our wedding and some have already RSVP their attendance. Sweet.
2. Distributed some wedding invites already.
3. Went for 2nd gown fitting with Martini G and gowns almost finished. Awaiting for photoshoot when gowns are ready.
4. Wedding programme very close to being done.
5. Collected wedding album layout from DiGio and will be meeting them this weekend to confirm on the layout.
6. Chris has started packing his room to prepare for renovation.
7. Met up with my bro to discuss on the design and layout for our room renovation.

What's Left:-
1. Decorating bird cages
2. Decorating ang pow box
3. Sending the finalised programme to Chris' childhood mate, Jo to decide on design of programme booklet and for printing of the booklets.
4. Meeting up with our coordinator TY to discuss on the wedding programme and to provide an update.
5. Getting the poppers, fairy wings (for my bridesmaids) and any other deco stuff, etc.
6. Meeting up with the florist and wedding photographer to confirm final details.
7. Distributing the rest of the invites to others and updating the guest list when guests RSVP.
8. Food tasting with both families.

Hmm... I can't think of anymore for now. But it's really good to know that our wedding plans and preparations are coming together now. Things are falling in place. Yay, praise God! =) I think what makes us most glad is that we start receiving more notifications from friends on our wedsite here and it is really heartwarming to receive people's blessings, greetings, well wishes (ohohoh.. and their RSVPs too.. heheh) as we continue to prepare for our big day. Thanks you guys!! We really appreciate your message to us! Keep them rolling in! =)

1 Year Anniversary

The (Pseudo) Cliff
1 Year Anniversary

We celebrated our 1 year anniversary recently. 28th January 2007 was the day I said yes to us being official, thus our wedding is held on the 28th to symbolise our coming together too. =)

We made a little booboo celebrating our 1 year anniversary. Hehe... Chris said to me on the day we were celebrating our 1 year; "I'm bringing you to a place you've never been before!", creating all that excitement in me. So while he was driving us there, I was making guesses about where he would be bringing me. When he drove us to Sentosa, I exclaimed "Oh! U're bringing me to the restaurant The Cliff!", and so I was right.

We arrived at the restaurant "The Cliff", ordered our appetisers & our main course and the food came. We were happily tucking into our appetisers when Chris received a call from the restaurant, asking if he has arrived or they can cancel the reservation. He informed them that we are already in the restaurant and the folks said ok, thanks! When we were about to sink our teeth into our main course, the restaurant folks called up to ask him the same question again. And again, he informed them that we are already having our meals. This happened a few times through our dinner and finally, Chris said to me: "This is the Cliff right?", I said "I don't know... you said you're bringing me to a place I've never been before and I've never been to The Cliff!"

To cut the story short, we realised we went to the wrong restaurant.. it was The Terrace, another restaurant just NEXT to The Cliff. Hahahaha... no wonder the people from The Cliff called up several times enquiring if he was gonna arrive or cancel the reservation. Lol. So this little booboo marks our 1 year anniversary! =) Well, be it The Terrace or The Cliff, it was certainly the good food and of cos the lovely company that made it special. =) Hehe.. And so, here we are.. our 1st year since coming together as a couple.

29, 29, 29...

29, 29, 29...

29, 29, 29....hmmm...

The first 29 represents today. It is 29th February 2008 today and it's a leap year! A once in four years moment.

The second 29 on our wedding website shows that there are 29 days left to our wedding day (as of today that is). We are really excited for our wedding and so are many of our friends and helpers. We are touched just knowing that alot of our family and friends are also excited for us and sharing in this 'Once in a lifetime moment' with us! As the big day draws near, I admit I do get some anxiety or panic attack as a bride-to-be (and being choleric) every now and then. Have had some nightmares of the actual day but knowing that we have committed our wedding (and more importantly our marriage) unto God's hands, I'm assured that everything's in good hands. We have not met up with our helpers yet but again we know that these folks are people we can trust and depend upon .. so again our wedding is in good hands.. MANY good hands in fact. =) Hehe.

Thus far the wedding preparations are more or less settled. We're bubbling with joy too, seeing our little lovenest come to form through a makeover of renovation works. Again, Chris & I know that we've been blessed by my brother and my dad since the renovation of our matrimonial room is a wedding present from them. Indeed we are truly blessed by everyone! Before I go onto what the last 29 represents... may I take this opportunity to request our friends and family to R.S.V.P either by texting us, emailing us, or on our wed-site here if you have not done so as yet and further bless us with your early reply or better still, your presence at our wedding (hehehe... opportunist! =) ):

http://www.mywedding.com/apps/public/mysite/rsvp.php?s=chrispris

Moving onto the last 29.... some of you could have guessed by now... yes.... Chris is turning 29 this year... I mean Pris...hehehe..

See you all not on 29 but rather 28th March 2008 on our wedding day! =)
