We met in Anniston on February 10, 2006.
Amber was living in Anniston and was working as an on-air personality as "Amber Joy" at a local radio station, Thunder 92.7 FM. After a long day of work, Amber decided to go spend some quality girl time with her friend Brook. Chris had just moved back from Texas and was temporarily living back in Anniston while he interviewed for jobs in Atlanta. He decided to go catch up with some old guy friends and happened to go to the same place at the same time.
Meanwhile, Amber could not resist approaching the handsome young man she saw come through the door and that was standing across the room. They proceeded to begin a conversation and luckily this charming fellow was an Alabama fan that met all the criteria on her check list!
There was an immediate attraction and after a 4 hour conversation about everything from our childhood stories to our future goals and dreams - the rest is history!
It was October 24, 2009 and the morning of JSU's homecoming.
Upon arriving in Anniston on Friday night, Amber dropped Chris off at his parent's house so she could stay with her mom and get up early the next morning to enjoy all the homecoming festivities with her mom and college friends...thinking that Chris was going to simply hang out at his parent's house and watch football.
Chris called Amber around 8am Saturday morning as she was frantically trying to get ready and make it to the Zeta alumni brunch from 8:30am-10:00am in Jacksonville. He said he desperately needed his phone charger out of the car and he needed her to meet him so he could get it from her before she went to homecoming. Despite her frustration, she eventually agreed to meet him at Lagarde park which was indeed right off the highway but an 10 extra minutes out of her way.
Chris hopped in his mom's car and rushed to meet Amber at the park. Amber arrived at the park having NO idea that Chris was about to pop the question or that he had been trying to ask her for a little while now. Once there, she got out of the car and handed him the phone charger. After giving her a big hug and kiss and saying some really sweet words, Chris got down on one knee and asked Amber to spend the rest of her life with him. It is one of the biggest surprises of Amber's life and one of the happiest for both of us!
