Stephanie and Christopher were introduced to each other by eHarmony on February 21, 2007. We met for the first time on March 21, 2007 at the Elephant Bar in Cupertino, California. Stephanie decided we were officially dating on April 8, 2007. We moved in together on April 26, 2008. We got engaged on Mar 21, 2009.
For our anniversary I reserved a room at a Bed & Breakfast, the Inn at Depot Hill in Capitola, California and retained the services of a room decorator. The Inn at Depot Hill was the first Bed & Breakfast we'd ever stayed at together.
On the day we were to check in to the B&B, we visited several wineries in the Santa Cruz area. I continued to urge that we visit wineries (I was waiting for a call from the decorator to confirm that the room had been decorated) despite Stephanie wanting to get to the B&B and get settled. While she went to the restroom at one winery, I called the decorator to find out whether the room had been prepared. He confirmed that it had and I drove us to the B&B.
We arrived at the B&B and checked in, going up to our room. I let us in and while she was looking at the room decoration, I fumbled the ring box out of my pocket and asked her simply "Will you marry me?"
She said yes immediately.
We went to dinner at Shadowbrook in Capitola, California, a very romantic restaurant which I had taken her to on our second date (the first official date after meeting for the first time.)
When the meal was cleared from the table, the waiter brought us a complimentary chocolate desert and his congratulations to our engagement. I had advised Shadowbrook when I made the reservation that if I showed up, it was because my soon-to-be fiance had said yes when I had popped the question earlier in the evening.
Our wedding took place in Livermore, California, on Sunday May 16, 2010. We were blessed with the attendance of 48 of our closest friends to whom we are forever grateful that they could share this most special of days with us. Among those 48 included a number of close friends and families who traveled incredibly far to be with us on that day, and we are doubly thankful to them for everything they did on and before this day to make it special.
We visited Cancun, Mexico for 10 days and 9 nights, visiting Sun Palace, an all inclusive resort.
We took a day trip to Xcaret, a sort of water-park cum Disneyland of the Yucatan peninsula, were we went snorkeling off the Carribean shore and snorkeled through an underground river. Xcaret also has a wonderful dancing show they do every night to tell the story of Mexico, the Mayan and Aztecs, the arrival of the Spanish and the evolution of the Mexican culture.
Later, we visited Tulum, an ancient trade center of the Mayan civilization, and walked among it's ruins.
We also sailed upon the "Columbus" a all wood boat crafted in the style of the old style sailing ships and ate a wonderful meal as the sun set.
And that doesn't cover the rest of the relaxing things (sitting by the pool, reading books, sleeping and margaritas and miami vices we drank!) we did while we were there.
