Clint and Amy met through a mutual friend in November 2001. They were both attending Nicholls State University. They dated on and off through out college. They made it through Clint's semester in Disney World and then Amy's year on the road. In June 2007 Clint and Amy moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana together so Amy could attend graduate school at Louisiana State University.

On April 5, 2009 Clint proposed to Amy at sunset in Key West, Florida. The couple traveled to Florida for a family member's wedding and extended their vacation by visiting Key West for a few days. On the long drive through the Keys, Clint pulled over so they could watch the sunset. While they were enjoying the sunset Clint pulled the ring out of his wallet and got down on one knee. Clint asked Amy to marry him and she said "Yes!"
