Although love makes the world go round, It still takes a lot of courage out of a shy guy like me :P to propose to my princess.
I never regret that moment. It was so magical...

I must thank my buddy Ryan who accompanied me to Tampines Mall to find a proposal ring for my dear. Being both amateurs, we absolutely got no ideas about diamond rings. Well to speak a few fair words for myself, I did some brief research on the website and seeking friends’ opinion on the jewellery shops around. But it was not enough, I must confess. A carat of diamond really cost like a bomb for a modest guy like me. And the ring was really big at first sight. Sorry if I sound abit suagu, but I am really suagu. Hahahaha. I always thought I could afford it and yes maybe in 10 years down the road.
I wanted to choose something simple yet elegant which suits my dear. Being an indecisive guy, I spent a hell lot of times in Tampines Mall in pondering over which ring to choose. The more I look, the more I can’t decide. Ryan has already decided on a necklace for his sweetheart. It seemed like I was accompanying him more than he accompanied me hahaha!! Finally I have zoomed in to 2 rings to choose from.
After some thoughts, I finally decided on a 0.31 carat Aspial from Lee Hwa Jewellery. I strongly believed that the ring is the one made for my dear. Quite Ironically, the ring that I chose is exactly the ring size for my dear.

I have initially planned to propose on this day at Hong kong Harbour light. In my imagination, I supposed to kneel down to her during the famous laser show. However everything does not seem right because throughout the show, we both shared opinions and agreed that the laser show was a waste of money and electricity. It was not doing any good to our Earth. I stopped at the final moment, a bit disappointed but never too late.

The big day finally came. This is our first time to Disneyland. Both of us were looking very excited to this trip especially myself with an additional mission IMPOSSIBLE mean “ I M POSSIBLE to achieve. Everything was really well timed. We did not wait long for any queues except for the photo session with Mickey and Minnie, which are worth queuing for. I particularly enjoyed one of the shows, which was a “live” encounter with Stitch. Dear and I were invited to participate with a conversation with Stitch. He was so hilarious and we felt like we are a golden couple in the show as he kept teasing us. Truly a minute of fame in the show! Things couldn’t be much smoother.
Finally evening came, my dear and I were sitting at the first row waiting anxiously for the firework. At this time, we were both feeling tired but enjoying the company of each other. As the clock stuck eight, beautiful fireworks light up the castle like shooting stars. The fireworks were fantastic with songs like Beauty and the Beast (My dear’s Fav description of me) and A whole new world being played to coordinate with the fireworks. Every moment was magical.
At this point, I felt the urge to pull out my proposal ring. Frankly speaking, I was nervous. And I waited. Although I enjoying the firework, my mind wouldn’t rest with the thoughts of kneeling down before my dear seems so vivid.
Finally, the fireworks ended with huge applause from the audience. As the audience dispersed, I told dear to wait as I pulled out the proposal ring. She was looking puzzled yet waited patiently for me to take out my stuff. She was surprised when I pulled out a Lee Hwa box. And I said to her: “Dear, though we know each other for less than a year, you and me agreed that we have a special bonding and mutual understanding with each other, will you be willing to spend the rest of your life with this prince throughout the rest of your journey ahead” Dear was so happy that she couldn’t speak and she nods her head to show her happiness. I finally got the chance to run the ring through her finger. Once she overcomes her excitement, she requests me to kneel to show her sincerity with the thoughts that I will not do it. However, as I going to prove her wrong, she backs out, as she is shy too. :P .
It was truly a special and magical night for both of us and a new chapter in our life has begun.

I had been pestering joking with Dear Dear for a diamond ring for as long as I could remember. We joked whether he would even give me one and he would tease me about buying it from Taka Jewellery or Princess Jewellery. It’s not that I’m against these two shops, but I will prefer to receive a diamond ring bought from a more reputable one. Ya, I’m just a bit brand conscious here. Hehehe…
After Dear Dear bought the diamond ring, he hid it. When I knew our holiday in Hong Kong was going to end before my birthday, I wondered when would the proposal be. Would it be during our holiday or on my birthday? However, the anticipation for the proposal vanished the moment we reached Hong Kong. I was ecstatic to tour with Dear Dear and enjoying this moment with him -- two of us in an unfamiliar place. We had to trust and rely on each other.
We went shopping at Mongkok and sightseeing in Lantau Island. Then we caught the Symphony of Lights show at Victoria Harbour. I didn’t know Dear Dear had planned to propose there. I kept babbling on how the show was such a waste of electricity and it’s not doing our Mother Earth any help. Come to think of it, I’d probably spoilt the ambience then. Haha!
On our last stay in Hong Kong, we went to Disneyland. It was so nice to be a kid again. We immersed ourselves in this magical theme park and before we knew it, the night had fallen. We sat at the parade square’s floor and waited dutifully for the fireworks show that was much raved about by friends who had seen it. It was splendid and both of us enjoyed it! Then it was time to leave the place. The crowd started to go away. I wanted to get up to stretch my legs as they started to ache after sitting so long on the floor. Dear Dear kept telling me to be patient. I couldn’t take the ache and both of us stood up. Dear Dear asked me to wait while he “struggled” to take out something from his bag. At that moment, I kind of guessed he was going to propose. When he took out the ring and said those words, I was touched and elated. I was happy that I could finally “marry off” myself. Hahaha! I wasn’t really surprised by the proposal, but rather the size of the diamond. Hahaha! I didn’t expect someone so stingy thrifty to spend almost a month’s salary on a diamond ring. Hehehe…
It’s a blessing to be with someone you love and he loves you back. It’s even better when you know he’s willing to spend his life with you. He may not be handsome like Keanu Reeves, as rich as Bill Gates or sings like Leo Ku, but he makes me laugh when I feel lousy and shares with me even though he doesn’t have much. Whatever Life has in for us, we shall conquer it together. ^___^
