Celebrating a Wonderful First Year of Marriage - Leaping into Alignment in a Leap Year

To me February has always been a special month for two
reasons…My now husband asked me out on
Valentine’s Day at midnight and three years later we tied the knot   in the same month.   Today, we are celebrating our first wedding
anniversary. To make it even more special, we are celebrating our anniversary
in the month of the leap year! Thanks Julius Caesar for the gift.   You introduced the idea over 2000 years ago and
it has become part of the Gregorian...

Celebrating 6 Months of Marriage

To mark the celebration, or rather what I call “reflections” of our 6 months anniversary, I thought of capturing some of the emerging themes along the way and without any hesitation, an obvious one is “stepping out in faith and obedience to God together”.
<<Let me back-track a bit.
One of my rituals at the end of every year is to take some time to pray and reflect on the year, and also to hear from God concerning the following year. One of the major elements I...

Who Celebrates a 3-Month Wedding Anniversary Anyway?

I walked into the house today and David said "Congratulations on our 3 months anniversary honey". Having known senior friends who have celebrated 19 , 28, 35 , and even 41 years of marriage,  counting 3 months is like attempting to
peel an unripe banana. It sounds too early to mention, but i cannot help but
appreciate God for His incredible hand over us these past 3 months. In a weird way, it feels like we got married just a week ago but in...

Navigating Honeymoon

So every bride looks forward to “honeymoon” after getting
married. For starters, I do know “honey”, and also know what “moon’ means but I
guess I’d really would like to know how the two words got coined together.
Anyway that’s for next time.

My goal for writing is to share lessons and memories that I
have learnt through the process of “honeymooning”.   I have to quickly preface...

Families Meeting for the First Time!

I had a wonderful opportunity to share a meal with David's siblings, for the very first time! Peter Song and Jane Lee (flew in yesterday from Germany) are absolutely amazing! We ate, talked, laughed and joked last night. It was a truly African dinner experience at Spier/Moyo, Stellenbosch. They brought David and i some gifts, but i received a particular gift that they bought as a family, it is so pretty, so expensive and so thoughtful, all that could come out of my mouth was "baba na!!!" (my...

Meet The Wedding Dream Team

It's two days to go, i think i'm crazy to even think i can get around writing another post, but i did promise to talk about the team, and i feel compelled to do that, because the blessing they have poured on us is priceless! Valley Christian Church has been incredible. We have several individuals from VCC that have been on this road with us. Pastor Mark and Dee have been parents to us, loving us and guiding us through the steps of preparation. Last week, David and i concluded our premarital...

Wedding Rehearsals and Prayer Requests

Today at 2:30pm, we will be having the wedding rehearsal. I cannot believe it's only 3 days to go!!!! David has gone to the airport to fetch his brother and best man, Peter Song. Most of by bridesmaids are already here, except my sister, Anne. I will be driving some of the girls through to the church. After that, we will all be going out for a Rehearsal Dinner with Rich and Lynn (David's Spiritual Parents) and the bridal party. Please pray along with us this week, one of the biggest areas...

International Arrivals

Today Grace and I have 4 days til our wedding, 4 days!  Last night, nearing midnight, we picked up the first out of town guest, Karin from Switzerland at the airport.  She comes in twos, to which we picked up Kimberly, from Las Vegas, this afternoon.  They're Grace's DTS (Discipleship Training School) closest friends and I'm so impressed that they've been able to maintain their friendship for 10 years now! At the moment, my spiritual parents are on the road, driving from...

Mustard Seed Faith for MolenVliet Wine & Guest Estate

A few weeks after David and i got engaged, the euphoria started to wear off and the overwhelming feeling of planning a wedding started to grip my heart. One Saturday morning in early October 2010, i felt i should talk to God about it and hear what He says, because i didn't know where to even begin! As i prayed and waited, i heard him say "Louise Swart". Louise has been a wonderful friend that i've met years ago, she has a huge heart for nation-building and transformation in the...

Valentine's Day in a Whole New Light

For many years of my life, i have heard many comments about Valentine's Day. A huge percentage of people would even say that they hated the event - The pressures marketing puts on poor lovers, the sadness of not having that special someone to cherish and share life with, the anxieties of making sure you impress your partner with the best restaurant booking, the sweat of choosing a unique gift, the jealousy of seeing lovebirds take to the clouds  and it goes on. I have to say, i have had...
