Major & Kayla Ann

Our Story

John found Kayla Ann on classmates, sent a wink, and surprise, she winked back!

As it began....

Kayla's perspective

We met March 7, 2008, a sunny Friday with a slight chilly wind. We began to chat over drinks and burgers at Ruby's. We chatted about our lives, our jobs, our expectations and most fitting that neither of us wanted to marry ever again.

As we got to saying goodbye for the day, it was apparent that we both longed for the companionship of a really smart person who loved to talk as much as ourself.

As we said it would be nice to see each other soon, that would be a few weeks. Then we chatted every day, evening, morning and text each other like teenagers. It was fun and joyful, but inspiring to live it with someone, not ever alone again.

John met Kayla's daughter one evening, and Analissa was found of him at first hello. Then a month later we saw each other at Seal Beach, and the boys got a chance to see if they liked going on a date with mom. From that day, the boys felt that John would be fun at every date, so we did a few more.

John would see some of the trials and tribulations of Kayla's ongoing divorce. It did not shake him one bit!

John would hold Kayla's hand through her first purchase of a car.

Alec & Austin wanted to see their mom's boyfriend every day, and so it began. John now would be spending afternoon picking up boys, picking up Kayla from work, making dinner for the family, and the family would be so thankful for Major John who was now a permanent fixture of their lives.

The Major would take the lead to walk Kayla Ann and her boys into a new church, a new life, and a new commitment. We began to follow John to Morningstar Christian Church. It was the final missing piece to all their lives.

The Major would then plan a family vacation to San Onofre Beach bungalows for the 4th of July weekend. The Major would confirm his love and commitment by proposing to Kayla Ann days before, so that the boys knew it was for keeps, our lives and our love.

It is now two years, and we are still very much in love. Our children know each other, our children love one another, and our lives are fulfilled by God's blessings each day.

As a tribute to our patriotism, the Major's career and the begining of our lives merged on this holiday, we would set our wedding ceremony on 4th of July. Yet, God has our dream and will give us passage when it is due.

We invite our church, our family and friends, to come witness our vows of love & family under the lighthouse at the Aquatic Park in Long Beach. As the day completes and the sun lays at the horizon, we will formalize our commitment to each other under God.

As it has been God's will to bring us together, bless us with a united home, we give thanks to our Lord for all the days yet to come!
