Antigua has hundreds of beaches for visitors to enjoy including the remote Pink Beach, which has rosy-colored sand. Popular activities include: kayaking, windsurfing, deep sea fishing, hiking, and attending cricket matches. Several museums (focusing on the island’s colonial, naval, and plantation history), historic residence tours, and weekly farmers’ markets are available in the English Harbour area and the capital city, St. John. Steel drum bands and calypso music dominate the nightlife of Antigua. Many hotels and resorts have their own night clubs or casinos, but there are also several local clubs that are tourist-friendly in Shirley Heights. Outdoor enthusiasts can take tours through Antigua’s gorgeous rainforests and fruit orchards in the local villages or they can go to Devil’s Bridge, a spectacular series of limestone arch formations on the eastern coast of the island.
