You know how much I love to blog, so I had to make a special one dedicated to our wedding. We are having fun with this so we hope you do too!
Here we are at 22 days before our wedding day! It is nice and quiet here at our Waikapu Hale....for now! Soon it will be filled with laughter and hugs and non stop memories with all of our family and friends! I cannot wait to see everyone, especially those who are coming from a far to be here for this special time in our life! Duke and I still don't have our special Sig Zane wedding attire, but we still have a little bit more time! No...
I t is unbelievable to realize that we are a month away from our wedding day! This day next month is the crucial day....the eve before the party of the year! Actually, can you imagine how many weddings alone will take place on Maui and in Hawai'i on that day? It will be really fun in life along the way to meet other people who got married on our wedding day. It seems that there will be a lot going on in the world that day....like usual! But for example, 10-10-10...
With 32 days before our wedding day, I am enjoying every last moment of being called Ms. Kimmel! Kimmel has been with me for a long time. At Lihikai Elementary my nick name was Kimmel Camel! At Baldwin High School is was Skimo! Soon I will be Mrs. Au Hoon! Which is a name in itself that brings pride from the beautiful family it carries. On Maui, the name Au Hoon gets you places! Everyone seems to know Duke's family....
The highlight of this wedding planning week was a surprise visit by Judy at Anuhea Flowers in Makawao. She came by to the gallery with a beautiful flower arrangement in hand. She inspired me by sharing a legendary Hawaiian flower arrangement book, "The Art of Flower Arrangement In Hawai'i" by Caroline Peterson, looking at the Puolo style of wrap with ti leaf becoming the vase. I loved it so much. So a few days later, she made a quick sample from her farm...
Now that we are only 6 weeks away from our wedding day, it is serious wedding planning crunch time! First things first, we had the most amazing visit to our wedding site this weekend... at Mile 10 in Kahakuloa. It is such a special place to be. We took a moment to tour the farm, and see all the amazing projects JR has on his farm. We said hello to the pigs, the chickens, the ducks and geese, the horse, the wild cockatiels, the...
With 2 months left to blast off, this wedding rocket ship is fueling up and preparing for launch! Hours of planning, re-planning, and yet re-planning again, bring me to ten pages of wedding notes! I have learned that when you think you are done with something, you have to tweak some part of the plan! Especially with our budget, we have to make cuts here and there. But it feels good to have the pieces of the rocket ship coming together... Tents,...
I lost my composure today while in the super long line at the First Hawaiian Bank in Pukalani. Not because of the length of the line, but because while waiting and checking my Facebook and my email on my iPhone, I noticed an email from Sig Zane Designs. I know it is not appropriate to jump for joy at the bank but how could I hold it in!!! The whole wedding party's attire is being shipped as we speak...
It is time to start looking in the mail for your custom hand made wedding invitation! I am hoping to have them all mailed out by 8-10-10. It was a Friday night a few weeks ago that Duke and I started the wedding invitation assembly line! I had almost everything in order, but of course right when you think you are done, there is always one more thing! The fine tuning is coming along and looking great! I went to the Post Office to get a postage...
With the wedding fast approaching, we did a few wedding errands today. Last week I called the catering company who we were thinking about using for our wedding, Dani's Catering , to see if it would be OK to come to their office and discuss the catering for our wedding. I saw their menus online and they looked great and had great prices. I talked to a few people who say their food is good. Of course...
Who would have thought that you could use your phone to scan in items to add to your wedding registry! Well, with my iPhone app, I can! Duke and I were at Home Depot shopping for a new vacuum cleaner for our house, since the one we had for 10 years just isn't sucking anymore. While we were there, I thought I would use my iPhone app for the first time and scan in items we need as wedding gift ideas. He was like, "What are you doing?" And I...
