Eileen & Brian

Our Story

How We Met

Eileen and Brian met through a mutual friend at the 9:30 club in Washington, D.C. just before a Garbage concert on April 21, 2005. A few weeks later, they went to the club Nation with some friends to attend a dance night...they've been dancing together ever since.

An Indie Rock Proposal

Eileen and Brian's relationship has had it's ups and downs as most of you know. After spending some time apart, they decided to get back together and "just go for it." Brian proposed to Eileen on November 7, 2008, at DC9's Liberation Dance Party (LDP).

Here's the scoop: When Eileen and Brian walked in to DC9, she saw her best friend, Rebecca, and her boyfriend waiting in line for the restroom. Eileen immediately went over and started talking to them, telling them that she was glad they could make it out for LDP's 4th anniversary party. Everyone was standing around waiting to be let up to the dance area when Eileen saw her other best friend walking towards her. She couldn't believe Darcie was there! Darcie tells Eileen that she was out with some friends in the area and decided to stop in and say hi. Now clearly this is the time when Eileen should have gotten suspicious, but no, she just accepted everything at face value and was happy that her two dearest friends were out with them that night.

Around 9:30 they finally let everyone upstairs to the dance floor and they grabbed a booth and got settled in and Brian got drinks for everyone. They were chatting, drinking and having a good time when one of Eileen and Brian's favorite songs comes on: "Are You the One?" by The Presets. So Brian and Eileen head out to the dance floor and start dancing. The only other people on the dance floor were their friends Shannon and Matt. So the song ends and Eileen asks Brian if he wants to go back and sit down. He doesn't really say anything and she didn't quite recognize the next song that came on, so she looked at the screen and it was "You are the One" by Shiny Toy Guns. At this point she thought "oh I love this song, I'll dance to this." Eileen turned back to Brian and found him down on one knee, holding out a ring. He then said "Are you the one? Will you marry me?" Eileen was stunned, but of course she said "YES!" Brian then said "You are the One!"
