Wedding Party

Our entire wedding is our "wedding party"; our closest of people who we are honored to help us celebrate our marriage. Intertwining traditions with our own style, we find it hard to classify our friends into positions. Therefore we have chosen a very small traditional party to help us plan a magnificent celebration for all of our best friends and family.

Maggie McLeod-Twine

Maid of Honor (Arizona)
Maggie McLeod-Twine

Its almost impossible to describe my friendship with Maggie as we have redefined what the true meaning of friendship is. I met Maggie in high school and it wasn't long before we became inseparable. This is a person who I have shared everything with, in fact she is more than a best friend...she is a sister. We have helped each other grow up, been there for each other through the tears and pains of life, supported each other when we needed it most, laughed together, cried together, forgiven each other, and anchored each other. This is one of the few people that I know who will truly always be by my side through all of life's journeys. Maggie is truly what a means to be a phenomenal woman. She raises two beautiful girls to be intelligent, independent, free thinking spirits at the same time going to school and working full time. She has a heart of gold and shows that in her dedication to her family and her love for animals. Maggie has been my rock when things in life seemed so hectic, she always was the voice of reason in my life. On one occasion home, Maggie even rented a limo for us to go out and celebrate our friendship! She is an amazing person, I am honored to have her as my Maid of Honor and even luckier to have her as my friend.

Cayli Church

Bridesmaid (AZ)
Cayli Church

My oldest maternal cousin, loved from the minute she was born as being my only cousin at the time on that side, and loved even more now that she has grown to a beautiful young woman and friend. I cant wait to have such an important person in my life stand next to me on the day we get married.

Mindy Church

Bridesmaid (AZ)
Mindy Church

I can't tell you how excited I was on November 1, 1993 when my mom picked me up from school and told me that my cousin Mindy was born. All I remember is thinking that she was the best birthday present I would ever have. And besides my engagement ring, she still is. I can't wait to have her honor me by standing next to me as we get married.

Savannah Swesey

Bridesmaid (AZ)
Savannah Swesey

I was so honored and excited when Savannah, my cousin, agreed to be a bridesmaid in our wedding. We have so much fun together from watching and swooning over the Twilight cast, girls day pedicures, late night movies, and shopping. Savannah is such an amazing teenager! She is so excited to be included in the wedding party, and I cant explain how excited I am to have her.

Amber Bell

Maid of Honor (Greece)
Amber Bell

I met Amber as a freshman in college when we were forced by fate to be roommates. Although we didn't initially hit it off, my insistence to force her out of her unsocial bubble quickly grew our relationship to "best friend" status. Amber and I have been through thick and thin together and I cant imagine how I ever would have survived college and NY living without her. She truly is one of the best friends I could ask for and I know we will remain this close throughout our whole lives. I have so many memories with Amber from waking up early to eat corned beef and hash, making macaroni and cheese together in our little electric water boiler (we didnt have a stove in our dorm), killing each other over 200 times in an endless game of James Bond, watching Almost Famous on repeat, hiding from cockroaches in her Brooklyn apartment, exploring the world of mojitos together (yum), and many more. Amber is one of the pieces in my life that makes me whole. Just as she has always been by my side as a friend, I couldn't imagine getting married without her right there.

Alexandros Fwsteris

Koumbaros aka Best Man (Greece)
Alexandros Fwsteris

Alexandros and I have been best friends since we were 4 years old. He is more than a friend to me. Apart from our genes he is the closest person I have as a brother. We have grown up together and have been constantly involved in every aspect of each others life. Our entirely different sets of character elements and values, evident almost immediately, complement us perfectly and we have been able to maintain a rare friendship through years of living away from one another (even as children we lived in different parts of Athens). Alexandros is my best friend and one of the people that as long as is out there I feel the world can't be a all that much of a bad place. His professional and personal growth over the last 8 years has been remarkable and added so much more potential to his person. More than being happy to be his friend, I am honored. There is no one else that would be a better man than my best man, my koumbaros.

Laurimar Escudero

Bridesmaid (Greece)
Laurimar Escudero

My fellow grad student supporter and torture victim! Lauri is a great friend and someone I am so blessed to have met just over a year ago. She always lends an ear or shoulder when needed and loves to veg and hang out as much as I do. She is my fast food eating partner in crime and Im so happy that she is a part of our wedding party!

Celeste Maria Ramirez

Bridesmaid (Greece)
Celeste Maria Ramirez

Possibly the sweetest and most thoughtful person I know, Maria is an amazing friend to anyone who is blessed to have her in their life. She gives the absolute best advice, throws the best parties, and loves the color pink. I met Maria while working at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in NY almost 4 years ago and we have been friends ever since. She is an absolute blast to be around, someone who you know will always be there no matter what. Our late night long phone calls and facebook messages keep the anxiety down from missing her so much, I am honored to have her by me as a bridesmaid.

Christine "Wan-ting" Wang

Bridesmaid (Greece)
Christine "Wan-ting" Wang

Often referred to as my lover, Christine and I pretty much were inseparable during out NYC days. We roamed the mean streets of NY as roommates, coworkers, and friends, discovering new bars, great eats, and tons of fun. We fought flying cockroaches together, rescued each other from horrific work scenarios, performed John Mayer on many occasions, took taxi rides home happily intoxicated together, survived the Bronx subway together, and ordered Coldstone delivery too many times. Christine is such a beautiful, inspirational, and amazing woman who I am so blessed to call my friend and bridesmaid.

Bonnie Swesey

Mother of the Bride
Bonnie Swesey

How can I begin to describe my mother and the relationship we share. My mom is my hero; she has shown me more than anybody what it means to work hard and bathe in the rewards of it. She has also taught me what it means to sacrifice for your loves and dreams and what it means to love someone so much that you would give anything for their happiness. I would definitely not be the person I am today if it wasn't for my mother. As a child she allowed me to fulfill my love for animals and creatures by allowing me to have a mini-zoo in my room, accepting my desire to become the only vegetarian in my family at age 9, and encouraging my wishes to start the family in recycling after learning about it in the second grade. My mother, more than anybody, has shown me what it means to be a compassionate person. She is my compass when I am lost and searching for myself, she is my ground and stability when I am searching for my goals and dreams, she is my best friend and the person who I can confide in and talk to more than anybody else in this world. Love, respect, gratitude, admiration, friendship, devotion are just a few words that come to mind when I think of my mother. She truly is a super woman and I am so blessed that I can call her "mom".

Ada Xionia Manerakis

Mother of the Groom
Ada Xionia Manerakis

Like any momma's boy I rightly think that I wouldn't be anything today if it wasn't for my mother. Her constant love and support has provided me with the strength, determination and sanity required to be able to live away from my family for those past 8 years. I couldn't have done it if it wasn't for my mother's devotion and unconditional support. All I have done in my life is to jump and reach for my goals and my mom has provided the solid ground under my feet. She is the most capable, independent and resilient person I have ever met and one of the two reasons I did not go to medical school. Never could I have made a better, more caring, professional and respected by her peers doctor than she is. I love her very much, and I admire her even more than words can describe.

Kevin Swesey

Father of the Bride
Kevin Swesey

I think from the very first day of my life, I could call myself "daddy's little girl". As a young girl, I remember the endless lessons my dad would give me on music and The Beatles. It seems like yesterday when I was young enough to sit on my dad's knee while he would tickle my knees with his monster hands and my neck with his scratchy beard, laughing until it hurt. I remember on Friday's when he would pick me up we would pass this palm tree that was bent so much that it shaded the other trees in its vicinity and how my dad would always point to it and tell me how that was "our tree". As an adult, I see all my memories in a different way. That palm tree still stands, guarding and protecting the other trees in its shade just as my dad has done for me. All the times we would sit at our favorite gelato place and my dad would help me with my math homework really showed me that learning can be fun which is evident in the dedication to STILL being in school. My father is a man of many wonders. He amazes me with his devotion to his business and community service. I admire his quest for knowledge for this is a man who went to college at the age of 53 just to be able to learn. He is brilliant, just read one of his amazingly composed letters or ask him anything to do with aerospace engineering. He can manipulate a hamradio to talk to people around the world and often tries to explain to me "sun patters" and things regarding better signal for hamradios which makes even this scientist's head spin. He has helped blossom my love for rock and roll and there is nothing I enjoy more than waking up early on a Sunday morning at my dad's house and watching him listen to "Breakfast with the Beatles" with his hot cup of coffee while watering the pool. He is the ultimate animal lover which is shown in the way he cares for his teacup poodle that can fit in the palm of his hand or the protection he gave an injured pigeon when no rescue group would take it in. I am so proud of the man my father is and I know, even on my wedding day, I will always be "daddy's little girl".

Nikiforos Manerakis

Father of the Groom
Nikiforos Manerakis

I don't tell my parents enough, but I love them very much. Let me start by picking up from where I left with my mom. The second reason I did not go to medical school was my father. He embodies the true spirit that all medical doctors should strive to nurture. The love and care he offers to every individual, not "patient", who comes to the hospital is the first and foremost step to the healing process. My father could have done no other profession than this and his in-field action is paralleled to his teaching ability recognized by his interns. My dad is the epitome of the simple man. His is a person who truly, knowingly, or not, has followed a stoic path in his life. His joys are of simple things, his devotion to his job and family unquestionable. His has always been a man of few words and hates pleasantries, pompousness and exhibitionism despite his wealth of knowledge. To me these attributes, although they weren't easily discernible for a teenager, are the true essence of a man. I love my father very much.

Sierra (and Melissa) Liu

Beautiful Sierra Liu, accompanied by her equally as beautiful mother, are planning on coming to Greece to help us celebrate our Greek vows. I have known Melissa (mother Liu) now for a few years and can say she is one of the people in my life I know will always be there. We worked together in NY and it just so happened we also both moved to Southern California. I have been so blessed to watch Melissa's life unfold, from her earning her PhD, to buying their first house and new cars, to her first pregnancy and birth of beautiful Sierra. I am so honored to have such wonderful friends that would travel all the way to Greece to help us celebrate our special day, we know our wedding will be that much more beautiful with these two Lius involved.

He will also be preforming with his band The Desert City Six for live entertainment. When I was little I spent many, many nights watching his band perform, collecting entrance fees for a little cash at some of his gigs, and practicing my signing skills with his microphone.
