Our Stories
We both wanted to share our stories of how we met and how our fairytale began.
Emma's story:
“It will happen when you’re not looking for it” my Mom has always said. And wow, was she right! Moving to London, in search of a new adventure, and hopeful of an acting career, I knew I had a lot to be excited about...but I could never have expected to find something as magical as true love!
With only fifty or so quid left to my name, I set out to pound the London pavements until I found a job. After filling out applications for a couple of other places, I caught a glimpse of TGI Fridays in the distance...and little did I know, a glimpse of my future happiness was set in motion!
During my interview, sitting there at booth 91, fate took a seat with me. Alex introduced himself and sweetly asked all about me while I was waiting for the manager to interview me. And BIG SURPRISE I got the job on the spot! During the next week of training, he seemed to be everywhere I was: listening about my frustrations of trying to acquire a bank account, being very chatty and friendly, asking for cups of tea, and making sure I was liking my new job...which is all usual for my boss, right?
Imagine my surprise when he showed up for a night out with his squash team, and charmed another waitress into getting my number! She explained to me that he was not my boss and actually worked for another TGI Fridays in North London, and that I should definitely give him a chance, because obviously...he’s Alex...the Homecoming King of TGI Fridays!
And I’m soooo happy that I did, because since that night, we have been absolutely mesmerized by each other, and feel so blessed to have found the perfect ONE.
Alex's story:
I’ll never forget that first day I set eyes on Emma. I was doing a management cover shift at TGI Fridays, and I saw this stunningly beautiful lady sitting on table 91, who was waiting for her final interview. Being the chatty type of guy that I am, I thought I’d sit down and find out how she was. From the minute I sat down I could see that amazing twinkle in Emma’s eyes that told me she had nothing but a heart of gold.
After finding out a bit about her and what she was doing in London I decided that this was the girl for me............ I did try to find out more, but Emma being Emma just couldn’t stop talking, which I loved!!!!!!! After about 10 minutes I went to get the manager who was interviewing her and said “You HAVE to hire this amazing girl”
Anyway, about 4 days later I popped into the store again to see if Emma was there, but instead of working she was speaking to the manager about getting proof of work so she could open a bank account for herself. I saw this as another chance to have a chat and get to know her a bit more.
I chatted to her for about 15 minutes and was flirting with her as much as I could to see if she was interested in going out.........you know like men do! But the incredible innocence of Emma was all there (it was lovely) and she just thought I was being friendly and looked at me as her boss.
I wasn’t going to give up........Emma’s looks and amazing personality were too good to pass on. I went into the store yet again a week later with some friends for drinks and fate was on my side, I saw her working there. I saw this as my last chance to get Emma’s number and asked one of the waitresses to see if she would give it to me (cowardly I know, but Emma is SO perfect that I didn’t think my chances were high). Anyway I couldn’t believe it when the waitress came back with the number and I actually had to confirm it with Emma to know it was true.
We went out for the first time a few days later and have never looked back; our first kiss on Covent Garden square was so amazing and was the beginning of our perfect life time relationship.
