Our Story
We are beach addicts who met near the beach of Coney Island in Brooklyn, New York.
We spend our summer weekends at various beaches in the Northeast (New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Rhode Island and Massachusetts).
We visited the beaches of Texas, Florida, California and Hawaii.
We tied the knot near the beach in Nasugbu, Batangas in the Philippines, the country where we were born.
Faith's version:
Patrick and I met on February 21st, 2003 when I went for a job interview where he used to work which is half a block away from the boardwalk of Coney Island. He informed me that the Director of Rehabilitation is out that day and they will have to re-schedule. I thought, what a waste of time! I shouldn't have come, but I was mesmerized by the beauty of the beach a day after a snow storm. So, I told myself, if I couldn't live near the beach, why not work near one! That would be perfect!
To cut the long story short, I was hired and it turned out that he was my supervisor! We started hanging out on the beach on our lunch break together with other co-workers. Soon after, we learned that we only live 10 minutes away from each other and began hanging out on weekends, too. We became friends and I thought, sure...he's tall, cute, smart and I kinda like him, but he's my supervisor! So I began to introduce him to my single girl friends, acting as a match maker. However, I found out that he had other plans when he asked me out! We had our first date on September 27th, 2003 and we have been inseparable ever since.
Patrick's version:
I was the supervisor of the rehab department in a nursing home somewhere in Coney Island, NY. Faith came in to interview for the physical therapist job. Unfortunately or fortunately for me, my boss who usually does the job interviews was not in so I had to interview Faith for the job.
She was of course very qualified for the job and soon after we were working together. Her work ethic and clinical skills made her one of the most dependable people in the department and after awhile I came to really admire her. In addition, Faith was really cute, interesting and fun to hang out with!
After several months working together, I found the courage to ask her out. I was a little nervous about the idea of having a personal relationship with a 'coworker' but eventually we got past that.
Our relationship continued to grow and now we are looking forward to our upcoming wedding in the Philippines in 2009.
The proposal:
Patrick proposed at Faith's apartment after she returned from one of her many trips abroad!
He offered her his love for the rest of her life as well as surprised her with the most beautiful ring!
Faith accepted knowing that Patrick is really the one!
