
In addition to the local hiking offered by Wachusett Mountain, there is hiking available in the Berkshire mountains of Western Massachusetts, less than two hours away from Harrington Farm. Additionally, the White Mountains of New Hampshire, approximately three hours away, offer miles of above tree-line hiking. With respect to rock climbing, following is a list of a few of the more popular areas within a few hours’ driving distance of Harrington Farm.
A single-pitch crag popular for both top-roping and trad climbing, Crow Hill is located just five miles from Harrington Farm and contains an assortment of crack and face climbs, with the most popular routes being in the 5.8 to 5.10 range. Be aware that Crow Hill can be particularly slow-drying in wet weather.
This crag is one of the largest in Massachusetts, containing a wide variety of routes on gneiss rock. There are both sport and trad routes, as well as a fair number of routes requiring mixed protection. Farley is located approximately 45 minutes from Harrington Farm.
One of the premier sport climbing destinations on the East Coast, Rumney, New Hampshire contains a wide range of moderate and hard sport climbs on radically varying granite terrain. It is located under two and a half hours from Harrington Farm.
