Thank You

Today marked our one month together as Husband & Wife.

This particular entry is specially for all our family & friends who have helped us in one way or another in making our wedding a memorable one. You know who you are. We just wanna let you know we appreciate it very much.

Without each and everyone of you, it would not have turned out so beautifully, smooth sailingly.

Once again, THANK YOU!

The Finale - Dinner (4x)

30/5/08, 31/5/08, 1/6/08 & 7/6/08
The Finale - Dinner (4x)

Finally, all wedding dinners are done. All done and over with.

Both Harrison & I & our families have great fun throughout these dinners. Instead of just sitting down at our bridal table like any other wedding couple would, we basically went from table to table to catch up with our family & friends. We ended up having our food sent to our bridal suite after the dinner. It was really fun. Anyway, who can eat with all the spotlights on?

Everything just rolled out smoothly according to the plan. Nothing went out of the way. Cakes were beautiful. Food were yummy. Ballroom set up was beautiful too. Everything is just perfect.

Whatever it is, nothing beats the satisfaction felt when we see our guests not willing to leave at the end of the dinner. This proof that they too had had a great time!

Wedding Day

30/5/2008 (Fri)
Wedding Day

Our wedding day is a typical one where the groom (harrison), came to pick me at my house with his 'heng dai' (brothers). Luckily for him, some friends offered to be his 'heng dai' despite it being a working day. Thank you guys!

He & his 'heng dai' arrived at my place approximately 10am. And my 'zhi mui' make them performed various tricks. It was hillarious. I can hear Michael (one of the 'heng dai') crooning 'The Power Of Love' away... my god... it was off-keys all the way! lols

The girls finally let them in once they are satisfied with the angpow as a measure of Harrison's sincerity. hahahaha....

We then performed the tea ceremony to my parents & relatives. Luckily for us, we hired a 'tai kum jie' (cheperone). She is fantastic in saying all the auspicious words and kept everyone entertained. Personally, I am not a fan of 'tai kum jie'. But its also good to have them around to lighten the atmosphere.

After the tea ceremony at my place, we left for Harrison's place in Taman Desa. When we arrived, his young cousin came to open our car door.

There are various rules and regulations when exiting my house and entering his house. Thank god for the 'tai kum jie' or banana like us sure goes coo-coo. Once inside, we performed some prayers and after which, we had the tea ceremony and this time round is for Harrison's parents & relatives. It was fun. :)

After that, we proceed to the bridal room where harrison removed my veil and tossed in on top of the cupboard and I helped him to take off his jacket. Dont ask me what's the significance of this gestures, I dont know.. hahaha... Oh, also, we have a young cousin break the paper on the potty to pick a fruit & angpow concealed within it.

In the evening, we proceed to an informal dinner held for his company staff at the factory together with our families. Our formal dinners are on the 31st & 1st June.

That's basically what happened on our wedding day. A typical chinese wedding.

Hair Combing Ceremony

30/5/2008 (12:30am)

Our wedding day started at 12:00am on 30th May 2008 for the Hair Combing ceremony. Harrison's had his done by his dad at his home at 12:10am, while I had mine done by my mom at my home around 12:30am:

1st comb - yat saw saw tou mei
2nd comb - yi saw saw tou pak fatt chai mei
3rd comb - sam saw saw tou zhi suen mun tong

After the 3rd comb, we swallowed 'tong yuen' (glutinous rice ball) to signify union of two person (i think).

After our hair combing ceremony, we proceed to burning paper clothings as an offering to 3 generations of our ancestors (we chinese believe that our ancestors will attend our wedding, thus offering of the 'new' clothings for them to wear for the auspicious occasion).

Overall, the hair combing ceremony was really fun. In our family, we have yet to have any marriage that had observed the chinese tradition fully. Therefore, its pretty interesting and at the same time, amusing, as we basically performed from notes made from our research. Everyone enjoyed themselveds.

Hong Zhong Day (Setting Up Of Bridal Bed)

15/05/08
Hong Zhong Day (Setting Up Of Bridal Bed)

On this auspicious day set of setting up of our bridal bed, Harrison's parents (lucky married couple who are blessed with sons & daughter) helped us to adjust the four corners of our bridal bed while saying some blessings.

It was so hilarious as none of us ever seen or done this before. Anyway, it was over within couple of minutes. Harrison & I later put on the new bedsheets and put angpows all over the room.

Guo Dai Li (Delivery of Bethrothal Gifts)

Our Civil Ceremony

12th March 2008
Our Civil Ceremony

Our civil ceremony was beautiful. We have uploaded the photos. Feel free to check it out.

The day started off with our Bridal Photography in the morning. We had a great time taking photos with our photographer, Jean. They made it very casual and fun.

In the afternoon, we had our civil ceremony. The ceremony were witness by both our families, close friends & relatives. Everyone had a really good time.

By 3pm, all done. We are officially, Mr & Mrs Harrison Woo.

One down. Four more to go! ;)

Submission of Registration Forms

14/02/2008 - Happy Valentine's Day

Time flies. It is now less than a month to our ROM. Time to start panic-king.

We finally submitted our ROM forms today after 3 visits due to some complications. Meant to be perhaps cause its Valentine's Day today. At least we did something memorable.

Went to Covershots to finalise details of our ceremony. Also went to finalise details of our wedding invitation cards.

Many things done!

The Wedding Gown

The Wedding Gown

Forget about the earlier gown. Fell in love with this gown instantly instead. This is it! Bronzy champagne gold...lovely!

Everything falling into place

Oct/Nov 2007

Everything just simply come together without much effort from our part.

Our gown designer just called up and informed us that she found the perfect gown for me which she thinks I will like. And she is right, I love it.

Bakers and caterer somehow appear out of nowhere too. Just so coincidentally we met and clicked. And we have confirmed cakes for both our wedding receptions.

As for wedding favours, since I am in the business, whatever we are giving gotta be unique, different from the rest. We've been brainstorming and havent concluded anything. Out of the blue, we found the perfect, unique, different from the rest wedding favours, when visited a friend today :) Issue solved.

Music band too appear from thin air.... lols. We found our ideal music band without even trying too. We were shopping in town and we just bumped into them while they were performing. The music, style & price were perfect. Settled.

Hopefully all else will be the same too. Reappearing by itself for us to settle :D

Parents Meet Up (Tei Chan = The Proposal)

23/9/07 (Sun)

We have finally succeeded in bringing together both our parents today to discuss about the 'fine' details of our wedding over a good dimsum lunch at Tai Thong Subang Jaya.

It went on very well...everyone was enjoying themselves especially the old people. As this is the first marriage for both families, neither are experiecne in the customary issues. Luckily we did some survey earlier and printed out a list for easy reference.

We are very glad that all went well and both sides were happy and looking forward to the big day.

One big issue solved. Hooray!

Banquet venue, at last!

23/7/2007
Banquet venue, at last!

Finally, the venues for the banquet has been identified. From Nikko to Mandarin and back to Nikko and finally, it is Prince Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, that stole the limelight!

We met up with Mr Edmund & Mr Bryan at 11am and discussed the details of the reception. The main reception has been confirmed. The second one will be confirmed once Harrison is back from Sydney.

Personally, am impressed with Prince Hotel too. Let's just say that they pay greater attention to finer details.

Shopping for 'Tai Kam Che'

15/7/2007 (Sunday)
Shopping for 'Tai Kam Che'

We went shopping for 'tai kam che' (cheperon) today and found out that RB Services provide such service and their prices are quite reasonable. We gave them our wedding date and issue is solved =) hooray! Details will be finalised nearer to wedding date.

Oh, we also solved the gown issue for our civil ceremony. This will tentatively be the ideal gown for it unless we come across a better one in the near future. It may be a little too early to start gowns selection but we feel that it's better to solve whatever that can be solved first rather than waiting till the last minutes...we will surely be kelam kabut then!

Another milestone...

Dream Civil Ceremony
Another milestone...

14/7/2007 (Saturday)

We have finally confirmed our civi ceremony at Covershots, and we are very proud of ourselves....hehehe.... finally, something done.

The civil ceremony package include 2 albums. One for the event & another for bridal photography plus some other misc photos.... perfect for us as we do not have the intention of taking the typical fancy bridal photography with the not so natural poses at standard bridal houses. We will either be too tickled by the 'glamourous' poses or too 'shocked' to smile naturally.... and we are sure the fancy albums will ended up tucked under the bed, forever and ever, cause we wont be able to recognise the two jokers in the photos....hahaha... :p

Venue Scouting...

Mandarin & Marriotte

26/6/2007 (Tuesday)
Harrison took time off today to go checked out banquet venues & facilities today. We went to Mandarin & Marriotte. We fell instantly in love with Mandarin. Nikko looks gloomy now...We have worked out the comparison between Nikko & Mandarin and leave it to Harrison's parents to decide.

Also, we went to collect my engagement ring which have been sent back for size alteration. It fit perfectly now...lovely!

We also met up with Josephine later in the evening for dinner in KLCC and requested her to be my maid of honour...she was beaming from ear to ear...:)

Preparation to our day...

Bridal Photography

27/5/07 (Sun)
We have shortlisted a few bridal studio and decided to check them out today. We went first to Covershots, finally found it after missing it a few times. Reason being, overgrown grass covered its fading signboard... *sigh*...
They shown us a few photography packages they are having and we instantly attracted to their civil ceremony package. We love the idea of having our civil ceremony done in such lovely environment. Tentatively, we will KIV that =)
After Covershots, we wanted to check out Exes Studio in Hartamas but unfortunately it's closed on Sunday. Will go back another day then.

How it all started...

We met at a dance school in 2001, February... among our group of friends, we were the first to know each other. Nothing happen then... he has his 'target' and i have mine.

9 months later, midst of choaticness & uncertainties, two broken hearts became one...we fell in love. It has been 6 years since then.

One fine day in March 2007, he asked me to be his wife. It was nothing grand nor surprising, but it was perfect for me and I said 'Yes'...!
