As a donation option we encourage you to help us help those in need through a gift certificate to www.Kiva.org . Here is a brief explination of what it is and how it works.

Kiva is a way to loan to the working poor. Kiva's mission is to connect people through lending for the sake of alleviating poverty. Kiva is the world's first person-to-person micro-lending website, empowering individuals to lend directly to unique entrepreneurs in the developing world. Here is how it works:

1) Heath and Mikayla will find an entrepreneur in need from somewhere around the world. Then we lend from our donations and yours.

2) Kiva's microfinance partners distribute the loan funds to the selected entrepreneur. Often, their partners also provide training and other assistance to maximize the entrepreneur's chances of success.

3) Over time, the entrepreneur repays their loan. Repayment and other updates are posted on Kiva and emailed to Heath and Mikayla.

4) When the entrepreneur repays their loan, Heath and Mikayla can re-lend to someone else in need, donate their funds to Kiva (to cover operational expenses), or withdraw their funds.

We love this idea of donating, having the recipient repaying the 'loan', and then being able to use that money again to help the working poor worldwide. So oyour gift will go much further, over and over again :)

The downside to the website gift certificate option is that you have to create a log-on.
