We are blessed to share our lives with these amazing people. Thank you to each of you for always supporting, loving, and laughing with us!
Miki Lynn grew up in La Porte, IN and is the oldest of five. She graduated from Marquette Catholic High School in 2004 and Hanover College in 2008 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Studio Art and a minor in Art History. She plans to pursue further education in design and hopes to establish her own company.
Ian grew up in Indianapolis, IN as an only child. He graduated from Lawrence North High School in 2004 and Hanover College in 2008 with a Bachelor’s Degree in History with a concentration in sciences. He plans to attend dental school in the near future and will one day have his own practice.
The two fell in love at Hanover in 2006 and have been inseparable since!
I'm Daddy's little girl & 1 of 5 in my mother's world! Dad is a police officer and travels the country as a private S.W.A.T. instructor. He paints toy soldiers, builds castles, and is the master at the “dad dance,” "Red Rover” & “Monster in the Corner.” Mom works in retail and is a caregiver. She's a great listener who likes to shop and dominates in the kitchen. Together, they raised five healthy, happy, and intelligent children: three princesses and two rugrats. They support our decisions and taught us the importance of family. They gave up everything so we could have it all.
They married June 3, 1983.
Mom is a kindergarten teacher with fuzzy curly hair at Lowell Elementary School and teaches kids their ABCs and their 123s. Dad is a vice president with platinum hair at National Wine & Spirits Corp; he knows more about wine than anybody and that's a fact! Together, they love to travel to Europe. I was very fortunate to have traveled with them on many trips. Mom loves to shop till everyone drops (or till the store drops their price) and cooks delicious meals. Dad loves to read and write everything from quick quips to epic poems!
They married August 11, 1973.
It’s safe to say that Grandpa & Grandma love nothing more than their 18 grandchildren. Grandpa called us everyday just to tease and especially loved to make us presents in his work shop. Grandma knows how to hang with this crowd too! When we play ball games, she's the first to shove a kid's face in the dirt! Holidays are their favorite. It’s always a wild rumpus with a massive feast. Grandpa served as La Porte Co. Sheriff and together they own Rose Bros. & Sons Paint Store.
They married June 4, 1960. Grandpa passed away in July 2006.
All Dad had to say was “pack your bags” and we would pee our pants! We were always excited to see Grandpa & Grandma Disbrow. Seeing them meant going to the Children’s Museum, the Zoo, eating Edy's ice cream, and playing on Grandpa’s computer. It also meant shopping with Grandma and listening to her play the piano. Grandpa built computers for fun but more notably he built beautiful jewelry boxes for us girls. They love nothing more than their 5 grandchildren.
They married June 2, 1956. Grandpa passed away in June 2001.
Grandma was born in Bowling Green, KY & lived in TN during her youth. There she developed her accent and charm. She loved to bake fudge & watch her soaps! Grandpa was born in Chicago & joined the Army at a young age. He lived through WWII, Korea, & Vietnam, retired a Colonel, & was inducted into the Quartermaster Hall of Fame of the United States Army in 1994. He loves to tell stories & cook. They raised 5 children together and have 3 grandchildren.
They married February 20, 1944. Grandma passed away in March 2009.
Grandma was born in Indianapolis & has lived there all her life. She graduated from Butler with a degree in English; don't try to correct her, she's always right! She raised 2 children & has 1 grandchild. Grandpa was born & raised in Indiana. He went off to North Africa during WWII & followed Patton up to Sicily where he fought the Italians under Mussolini. I never met Grandpa but Grandma told me he loved children. He & I would have had a lot of fun together! Grandma Gilson plays bridge, gives lectures at the literary club, throws dinner parties, and never misses her appointment on Thursdays to get her "hair-do" done by Charles.
They married June 30, 1946. Grandpa passed away on June 25, 1971.
Mallory, the second oldest, has no problem giving her thoughts or defending her ways. It’s not a bad trait but the definition of a strong woman. We have lots of memories together: swimming with the neighbor boys in our kiddie pool, running away from the "red eye" while leaving our little brother alone in the dark, & eating spaghetti in diapers. We each have our own princess; I have Cinderella and Mallory has Belle. She will graduate from Hanover College in 2010 with a B.A. in Sociology. She lives in Louisville and hopes to work in animal care. Mallory started this interest of “animal care” when she was a little girl collecting bats and mice as “pets.”
She is engaged to Chase Abell.
Marissa completes “the 3 Disbrow girls.” She’s tan 24/7 365 days a year for no reason and adores animals (especially horses). Her princess is Jasmine and her boyfriend is Harry Potter. She loves to read and has read every book in the library. She’s a world-class dancer and a 4 year high school volleyball state champion. Marissa will continue the family tradition and graduate from Hanover College in 2013. She likes to dress up but can kick butt. When she was 3, Mallory and I made fun of her. To get back, she pulled us around in the pool by our ponytails...at the same time. It did not feel good.
Brianna and Miki met freshmen year at Hanover College in Donner Hall. We have been inseparable ever since! Practically Chinese, although she doesn't look like it, she is, has lived all around the world. We witnessed things we wished we never had, took road trips, sprinted around campus in "MJAB" fashion, pulled unmentionable stunts, hid from college security, created the "man wall", and laughed...a lot! A true lifelong friend, Brianna is fashionable, cultured, honest, loving, caring and beautiful inside and out. She hopes to complete a masters degree while maintaining a case manager position in Madison, IN.
Danielle and Miki meet in 8th grade at Notre Dame Elementary School in Michigan City, IN. We attended Marquette Catholic High School together and have remained the best of friends ever since. We tanned on the shores of Lake Michigan, climbed the dunes, conducted many sleepovers, dissected frogs, took 5 years of French class, and dumped a tool box at 4:00 a.m. to create a science project due at 8:00 a.m. She is a true friend who will listen and offer fantastic advice! Danielle attended Notre Dame University and graduated in May 2008 with a degree in Political Science and Music. Her favorite movie is The Princess Bride and her secret baby's daddy is Will Smith.
Kristen and Miki met in Phi Mu and became "big & little" sisters in 2006. In college, we did most everything together, including being “the girls” at Lambda, double dating, going to baseball games and stealing construction cones with our significant others. We share special life events together - like our engagements and weddings. She is an excellent friend who will always listen even when the story is 10 hours long. Kristen works as a social case manager and lives with her husband, Isaiah, in Jefferson, IN. Although, she preferred to marry Harry Potter with Mickey Mouse as the Officiant while watching South Park.
Jesika, a sportsaholic, and Miki met freshmen year at Hanover College and played varsity volleyball together. Bridesmaids in each other's weddings, we roomed together, shared secrets and clothes, partied, dressed up as Britney Spears, played wiffleball, gossiped, ran Hanover's campus, and watched Rock of Love...religiously. She's modern, fun, intelligent and is always up for a beer and baseball. She works at U.S. Bancorp in Customer Service and is earning her MBA at Xavier University. Jesika currently resides with her husband, Jerod, in KY.
Angie and Miki met freshmen year and played varsity volleyball together at Hanover College. Both members of "MJAB," we roomed together throughout our college years, conducted top-secret missions in the dead of night, and procrastinated several times with Brianna as the instigator. Angie is a wonderful friend who always listens and gives the best hugs. If you’re looking for a great laugh, this girl will brighten your day and dampen your pants…literally! Finally, Angie likes long walks on the beach while sipping Arbor Mist and reading her economics book. Standing at over 6 feet tall, Angie finished job training in Boston and is now employed with Key Bank as a Financial Analyst in Cleveland, OH.
Mark has had the pleasure of knowing me since he was one year old! He has always been taller than me! From playing catch at age 8 to discussing world politics and ethical dilemmas at age 18, Mark and I have hung out together our whole life. Ask anyone, and they will agree, there is never a subject that Mark and I disagree on. In my married future, Mark and I will still be two dudes hangin' out at the bar talking about old times and discussing plans for new times. Let's just say that Mark is the guy who will let me stay over when Miki throws me out for a night. Finally, Mark's secret baby's mama is actually a baby's daddy, Mr. Jerome Allen Seinfeld!
At age 15, Matthew is the 2nd youngest of the Disbrow clan. Taller than everybody, he’s the skinniest, kindest kid you’ll ever meet and one that can talk your ear right off! Over the years, Matthew developed a strong sense of humor and can always make us laugh. He is always attached to Dad's hip, loves to travel, go camping, reads military history books and enjoys meteorology. One of his favorite hobbies is to go shooting with Dad (he has skill too!) Matthew is a freshman at New Prairie H.S. and is already thinking about Hanover College. He is on his way to becoming an Eagle Scout and a professional baseball player. 4 of 5 in the lineup, he would do anything to help his siblings, including his annoying little brother... but only if he has to.
Chuck lived down the hall from me Freshman year. It didn't take long before we were hanging out together in the "crowtel's" third floor. When I realized Chuck was not going home for Fall Break, for him home is Utah, I invited him to come home with me. I think my parents loved him more than me! When Chuck was gone for two years on his mission in New York, we wrote letters to each other explaining new experiences and current events in our lives. When Chuck came back, he may have been a changed man, but we were still best friends. Chuck would be more than happy to accept me when Miki throws me out for a night, plus I'd get to see Shelly and Ashton, his beautiful wife and daughter! Chuck's secret baby's Mama is also his real baby's mama, Shelly!
The first thing Russ ever told me was he thought I was "that fake nice guy who was an asshole." Then he said, "I'm beginning to think that you're actually a genuinely nice guy!" Well, thanks Russ! Since then, we've been best friends. We've roomed together, decided on the same career path, and let's just say that no one talks "car" more than Russ and I do. We both amaze each other about our knowledge of cars, and pretty soon we'll be amazing each other about our knowledge of dentistry. You know, Russ would also take me in for a night or two when Miki throws me out! Russ's secret baby's mama is a Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder with the License plate "2THSRGN"
You know you've said something funny & sarcastic when Isaiah grins like the Cheshire cat. You also know if you said something stupid because he'll shake his head slowly in disgust. Isaiah is down to earth, calm in all situations, and is as strong as the god Atlas. Isaiah, being married to Miki's Phi Mu "little sister" Kristen, gave us the chance to see each other a lot and to become quick best friends. His ability to listen and give sound advice is something not found in many people. Isaiah would take me in if Miki decides she needs "some time," but it wouldn't work too well because Kristen would stare me down and take Miki in instead! Isaiah's secret baby's mama is Kristen herself.
Alex is a 1st class guy who enjoys the finer things in life: hockey, good pilsner beer, and nice cars - just as much as he enjoys studying. His vocabulary is top notch and he uses it all the time to argue about anything and everything no matter the amount of evidence. He chose his profession from his best skills; he's in law school. Alex always has my back just like all my best friends. His concern for his friends is noticeable. That's why he would take me in when Miki gives me the boot for a night! I do have to admit, if I was in Antarctica and stranded without my expedition team, Alex would literally appear out of the white mist because he'll drop anything and go anywhere to help a friend. Alex's secret baby's mama is a prosecutor lady who trumps him in a case!
Deren sat behind me in Biology class for a semester and we didn't even know the other existed. Then, we both joined Lambda Chi Alpha and the rest is history. We bonded right away as Deren and I were in pre-med science classes together. We studied together, did fratty things together, and we drank together. Guess what, we still do all three together, even now! Deren is currently in medical school and is graciously helping me study for the DAT. We have deep conversations on one hand and on the other we watch movies without saying a word. Deren would definitely take me in if Miki throws me out for a night! Deren's secret baby's mama is a hot lady doctor!
Makenzie, 10 years old, is a girlie-girl at heart. She's cute 24/7, loves dolls, Hannah Montana, playing dress up, and shopping with her cousin Miki and Aunt Jacque. But don't let her fool you! She plays soccer and goes to Grandpa & Grandma Rose's house to play in the pond and on the sandy "mountains." Born around the same time, Makenzie and Mason are best buds. They are inseparable and conduct many mischievous acts together. (They get it from Grandpa Rose…he would be proud!) Makenzie is excited to be the Flower Girl and promises "not to whack people in the head with her flowers when she walks down the aisle." (Thank you Makenzie!)
Standing at 4'9'' 60 pounds and 10 years old, Mason is the baby of the 5 Disbrow kids...and the most ornery! A month after he was born, Mason played ‘Baby Jesus’ in Miki’s 8th grade school play. Now attending the same school, Mason is not well known by that ‘debut” but by his visits to the principal’s office. He’s the definition of an “All American Athlete” and enjoys playing baseball, football, and anything that involves physical contact. He likes "Cars," planes, battleships, slip n’ slides, copying his brother, gross fun facts, collecting rocks, and traveling. His favorite TV show is Scooby Doo. Mason appears to be a toughie but he loves to sing in the shower and attract the ladies!
