We're now Mr. and Mrs. Iliscupidez!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!
In Chinese tradition, 8 is believed to be the luckiest number. In our case we were together for 8 years before deciding to tie the knot. It took 8 months to prepare our wedding which may not be the best, but definitely exactly what we envisioned. Vintage Glam Rock.
We wanted a wedding filled with really really great music spiced with 1950’s details.
On the day of my wedding, I decided to get up early and jog 4kms, prayed at the chapel where I'm getting married and finally met up with our supplier friends.
As The Third Party’s coordination team executed the details of the wedding, Eileen Ramos put me on some make-up and Cecilio Abad’s team dressed me up in vintage inspired sweetheart cut hand perforated silhouette. Threelogy and Pat Dy’s teams were starting to shoot as Jake was suited in JC Buendia’s fine couture. With prayers, the weather cooperated and it turned out to be one fine day.
The tear-filled solemn ceremony where we shared our personal vows was held in Canyon Woods’ quaint little chapel attended by very close family and friends from several parts of the world. Johnoy Danao prepared a musical arrangement combining U2’s All I Want Is You and Coldplay’s Yellow for the entourage and bridal march. Invoice Choir did a great job in the hand-picked liturgical music while Nyoy Volante surprised us with his rendition of Sayo Lamang. The ceremony was capped off by Nick Drake’s Northern Sky.
Eager to incorporate the Classic feel, the wedding involved vintage elements from 1950’s such as having silver monochromatic motif for the entourage ball gowns designed by yours truly together with Ding Marquez. Some guiding details included feathers, headpieces, photo booth, wedding wish tree, Sugarbox’s quilted cake, English hats for guests and red low-set floral arrangement in the old school country set-up of Canyon Woods Clubhouse.
Wonder how one can associate music with memories? Each table was represented by our 30 favorite musicians from the 1950’s to the present, songs of which were played live by Johnoy and Nyoy during the reception. Some of our favorites included the Beatles, U2, Led Zep, RECH, DMB, John Legend and more. The unique musician boxes included 2 CDs for our guests, our wedding soundtrack which featured songs that the guest came across in our wedding and a collection of pop tunes in string quartet ensemble from modern musicians such as The Killers, Paramore and more.
Booze was definitely on us. Jake’s kuya brought in bartenders to concoct various martinis, mojitos and included unlimited scotch, brandy and beer in the bar list. Chef Pepe of Canyon Woods lead the sumptuous buffet, lengua and prawns as bestsellers. For cocktails and dessert, my sister from New York shipped purple and orange potato chips, japanese biscuits and prepared her very own chocolate buffet loaded with truffles from Lindt, almond clusters from See’s, Ghirardelli squares, premium M&M’s dark uncoated chocolates, pretzels, saltwater taffies, english cookies and more. Black raspberry canes were given to guests as a take home treat.
With the help of our Ninong and Ninang, we were able to come up with a foxtrot of Rod Stewart’s Embraceable You as our wedding dance. Some reception highlights included the quirky Beatles AVP made by very dear friends narrating our story. After the best men, matrons and MOH speeches, we ended the reception by singing Salamat by the Dawn to show the guests our appreciation. It segued to a ROCKEOKE after-party where Oven Toaster, the live band who can play over 1,000 songs accompanied our guests to a night of fame as they stretched out their vocal chords. Our guests just can’t get enough of the long day as immediately after the singing, the dance for all ages took over. Dancing was a blast as snippets of music from various dance hits from the 50’s to the present brought the house down. From the stereotypical Elvis twist, ballroom dance songs from Abba, Macarena, Flo-rida’s Low, Rihanna’s Disturbia, Britney’s Womanizer to JT and Timbaland’s hits, we ended a fun-packed day which was definitely a remarkable one, an unforgettable 8-hour after-ceremony celebration.
I am lucky to have found my lucky charm and I am looking forward to spend the next 88 years with him☺
