Our wedding date: October 24, 2009
Blessed are those who trust in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord.
They shall be like a tree planted by the water, sending out its roots
by the stream. It shall not fear when heat comes, and its leaves
shall stay green; in the year of the drought, it is not anxious,
and it does not cease to bear fruit.
Jeremiah 17: 7-8
WOW! What a glorious day! Our little BBQ wedding shindig was so much fun, and so beautiful.
We extend heartfelt thanks to all who joined us on the day (and those who were there in spirit!) A huge wedding hug to parents Cheryl and Duke Handy and hosts Peggy and Don Sprabery who have each done so much for us; event planner, wedding coordinator, and floral designer extraordinaire John D. Folding; pre-wedding party hosts Melanie and Larry Clark, Linda and Renny Sherman, Andi (and Butch) Oustalet and Jenny (and Kent) Nicaud; the legendary Chef Walter Blessey and his beautiful Sous Chef Katherine Blessey; Gail Majure and her Pot Diggidy magic; our amazing photographer Chris Capozziello and videographer John Lestrade; the "paparazzi" photographers including David Purdy, Michael Spooneybarger, Bill Starling, and GFD Chief Pat Sullivan; the Warr family; Dana and Matt King; salon bleu’s Christina Switzer and Jessica Jones; symphony cellist Daniel Martinez, Alan Martinez, and the incomparable Elder Sanchez, opera singer who surprised the bride by coming all the way from the Big Apple to sing for our ceremony; Peggy and George Schloegel; banquet guru Chris King; late-night barbecue smoker crewmates Paul Haney and Jamie Cutrer; our cake creators Shari Marks and Joan Hudson; author David Gelin, who is featuring our BBQ love story in his next book; Dean and Laurie Holleman and Alva Peden; Tim Bockenstedt; the Muleskinners for the after party music; Calvin Coleman; dear friends, and all our friends who helped us get things done during the chaotic past few days. This day would not have been the same without each of them. Thank you!
We were so happy to exchange marriage vows surrounded by our friends and our family. But more than that, we are excited about our marriage, to be able to share our lives together, to nurture our love and appreciation for each other, and to grow together as a family.
