Here is a little bit about our lives, how we met, and how we fell in love!
Beth is from Cumming, Georgia. She transferred to The University of Georgia after attending Young Harris College. While at UGA, she became an active member of Christian Campus Fellowship. Through CCF she was able to spend a semester abroad doing missions and starting a campus ministry on a college campus in Puebla, Mexico. This experience truly changed Beth's life. After returning to Athens, she graduated from UGA and became an intern at CCF. This year was a time of extreme growth, as well as patience. After leaving CCF and Athens, she moved back to Cumming and began working at Chestatee State Bank in Dawsonville.
Beth loves cool weather, especially when she can drive with the windows down and the heater on! Recently she has found the joy of event (wedding) planning. She also loves to try new wines and go to new restaurants with Jared or a group of her girlfriends. She loves college football (Go Dawgs! Roll Tide!), and enjoys Saturdays in Sanford Stadium.
Jared is from Guyton, Georgia. He attended the University of Georgia for four years. While attending the University of Georgia, Jared was also an active member of Christian Campus Fellowship. Currently he is attending the Medical College of Georgia where he is in the Nuclear Medicine program.
Jared enjoys the outdoors, especially fishing. He spends as much time as possible in the river, on the lake, or in the ocean. He also likes football, especially Georgia Saturdays between the hedges. He has played the drums since middle school and loves to play around on the set—he was the drummer for the praise band at CCF. Jared loves music; especially live music at a show with Beth. He has enjoyed being in a relationship with Beth and now enjoys being engaged to Beth more than anyone could ever know.
Beth and Jared first met at a Super Bowl party thrown by the UGA Christian Campus Fellowship. Beth, a student already in the ministry, was the first person to welcome Jared to the party and to CCF. Beth also introduced Jared to Heather, his current roommate. This formed "The Triumvirate", their three-person group of friends. They went on adventures together and formed a close bond. During this time of friendship, Jared became attracted romantically to Beth. She was not ready for the relationship at this time, and at one point in time told Jared they would never be anything but friends! Jared, however, did not give up his pursuit. Later, after starting her internship with CCF, Beth's interest in a romantic relationship with Jared developed. However, as an intern she was not allowed to date, especially not a student in the ministry.
She planned to tell Jared her interest in him regardless, and they planned to have a talk one fateful October night. The night came and Jared's house was burglarized. Jared walked in on the sight about the time that Beth was going to come to his house. After the police report was filed and things settled down a bit, Beth and Jared sat in Jared's emptied and torn apart living room and talked about what they each felt. After revealing each other's feelings for each other and seeing the love that Beth showed him during this trying time, Jared knew that he wanted to be in a real, lasting relationship with Beth.
When April finally came and they were allowed to date, they certainly did! Over the next few months their decision to date was affirmed by the love that grew between them. One night after they had cooked dinner at his apartment, they were cleaning up the kitchen, and as strange as it is, while watching Jared take out the trash Beth knew that she would marry him.
Jared kept the engagement a surprise from Beth. He asked her out to dinner to the Basil Press, a restaurant the couple had wanted to try out for quite a while. While driving there, Jared took a wrong turn. Beth, puzzled, wanted to know what was going on but decided to trust Jared. While they were driving through Athens she tried to figure out what was going on without acting suspicious. It was the couple's year and a half anniversary and Jared wanted to do something special. He recreated their first date, with a twist. The couple's first date was originally going to be at a Georgia Baseball game, but the game was cancelled due to rain. Jared planned a trip to the Georgia Museum of Art instead, knowing that a fashion exhibit would really interest Beth.
In recreating their first date, Jared decided to visit the museum once again. There was a Mexican-inspired art exhibit, which he thought Beth would enjoy (especially since she had lived in Mexico). Beth and Jared browsed the rooms and exhibits, all the while enjoying each other's company. After going through what Beth thought was the entire exhibit, Jared said there was one more to view. He and Beth walked hand in hand to the last exhibit. It was an entire exhibit on rings! Beth was dying inside, wondering if this was the moment, but Jared's calm demeanor kept her on her toes. While looking at the last display in the room, Beth saw Jared's reflection in the glass as he got down on one knee. He held up his hand with the most perfect ring in the entire room and said, "Beth, I love you and I would love to spend the rest of my life with you." After a slight pause, he asked, "Will you marry me?". Beth, fighting through tears, made sure he had asked her daddy and then replied, "Yes!". The rest of their lives together had begun. Oh, and he did take her to the Basil Press where they had a delicious dinner!
