First we will tell you a little about each of us first:

~LAURA~
Laura is 23 years old and has lived in Olney, Maryland for the last 21 years. She currently is in nursing school full time and works as a personal assistant part time. She has been attending Covenant Life Church (where she met Jeff a little over a year ago) for about 3 years

~JEFF~
Jeff, or as most of you may know him "Lew" is 26 years old and has lived in Gaithersburg , Maryland for 1 1/2 years. After finishing his Masters degree in Library Science at Indiana University he moved here for a job, not expecting to find a wife too! He currently works at Covenant Life Church as the database manager.

Now for the story...
A group of friends from church were planning a cookout memorial day weekend 2005 and this is where we first met. We spent some time talking at the cookout and then a smaller group of us later went to see the Marine Band play at Wolf Trap. Afterwards we had a really good talk as we watched the fireworks. That night we both left still thinking of the other person as a "friend", but wondering if God had more in store.

Throughout the rest of the summer we became good friends and by August our relationship had officially begun. After growing closer together and walking through various challenges together it became clear that we loved eachother very much and we were ready to think about the future of our relationship. I could sense that engagement was in the near future, but had no idea when or how.

Engagement...
I felt like engagement would never arrive! We had been talking several months before about marriage, but Jeff didn't propose until almost 4 months later.

April 22nd was a very special day. After having lunch with my (Laura's) brother and sister-in-law we were planning to go to a play later that night at our church. I was trying to make a quick dinner and Jeff had other plans. He told me to come into the living room to watch a video that the Pastors wanted couples to watch when they were considering engagement. I sat down and really ended up watching a video with pictures of the two of us, poetry, scripture, Lew playing guitar, and in the end Lew proposing. It was a sweet moment...and of course, I said yes!
