If you want to know our story...here it is in a "nutshell" or should I say "seashell"
How we met

Well many of you know that Jeff and I met at University but what you may not know is that we both disliked each other when we first met. I was less than hospitable when Jeff arrived, check-in weekend at the dorms of 2003 so we did not get off on the best foot to begin our relationship...but after a few weeks and with some help from Hockey Night in Canada we started a friendship.
Our friendship slowly turned into a romantic nature within weeks but we decided to be secretive at first as we did not want our roommates to know at first and we were sneaky for a month before the news got out...and everyone was so happy but also surprised at our relationship.
By that Christmas we knew we were meant for each other and had plans to stay together for the long run...it was a great feeling to find someone who loved me, challenged me and made me a better person.
Our Distance...

I was now in Northern Alberta after many tears, long conversations with Jeff and a long search for work.
That first Christmas apart, Jeff and I decided that a Christmas vacation was best to get quality time together so I choose and we ended up...you guessed it...CUBA! Our first trip there but not our last. After a beautiful trip of relaxing we headed back to our separate lives in Canada to soon be together at last.
Jeff finished University in 2005 and then instead of heading to live with me he headed out west to become a Fly Fish Guide. I did not mind at first but by the time Christmas came around again I said we needed to again have quality time together and Jeff got to choose...and you guessed it another Christmas in CUBA!!
Jeff did end up joining me in Alberta for two short 6 month periods but always headed back to the west for fishing. Northern Alberta ended up being a 4 year excursion for me and only a 1 year excursion for Jeff...but in the end we were together at last.
Jeff our 4th Christmas together I was getting ready for another trip to a hot location when Jeff asked to have Christmas at his parents place to save money...I had no problem with that...TO BE CONTINUED!
Our Engagement

So I left off with us headed to Jeff's parents place for Christmas of 2007.
I was excited to once again spend time with Jeff's family, his nephew and niece are always great to play with and life is divine when it comes to the "Richert" red wine. This year we were going to be joined by Jeff's grandmother so it would be a little special for the entire family.
Christmas day came and I was not sure what to expect as every family is different. first thing was I needed to get dressed...at my house pj's are always worn for most of the day so up I get to dressed! Next have coffee, and chat a little bit before opening stockings...at my house stockings are always opened before anything!
So I am going through my stocking and come upon a box...with a note "Guess what?" and lets say there many tears, lots of hugs and a question I will never forget "Will you?" Then I opened the box and there a beautiful ring, just for me. The rest of the day I do not remember much as I think I stared at my ring too much...It was a great Christmas!
