Jeff and Sara love spending an afternoon at Hearst Castle! Its even better if you pack a picnic and enjoy it down at the beach after your tour!
Down town SLO is such a charming, fun, sweet place to spend an afternoon. There are many little shops and art galleries to browse around in, yummy places to enjoy lunch creekside, and a historical Mission to explore. If you happen to come a few days early and find yourself here on a Thursday evening, you can't miss the farmers market! It it is held from 6-9 with live music, BBQ, fresh flowers, fruit, veggies, cheese, and honey! So much fun!
Pismo Beach, CA
Jeff and Sara hold Pismo close their hearts as they have lived there and have spent most of their childhood frolicking around this beach town! Go have some famous Splash Clam Chower, watch the surfers off the pier, then make sure you stop by D&H Beachwear on the corner of Dolliver and Hinds right downtown. Say Hi to Jeff's Aunt Linda when you stop in!
Avila Beach, CA
Jeff and Sara just LOVE Avila Beach! So much to do there! Follow Avila Beach road to the village of Avila. Take a stroll on the beach, have lunch at the Custom House, if you're there on a Friday evening check out the Farmers Market! Its so fun, a favorite of Jeff and Sara's! If you have extra time take a walk down the Bob Jones trail and stop in at Avila Hot Springs for a soak in Natural Mineral Hot Springs.
SLO, Edna, Paso Robles, CA
If you come to the Central Coast, you can't leave without wine tasting! Whether you stop in North County in Paso Robles, drive just a few miles East of Pismo Beach or SLO, or discover the gems in Arroyo Grande...you have to try some. Feel free to ask Jeff and Sara about their favorites!
AHhhh yes, Santa Barbara. The American Riviera! SB has a Beautiful downtown where you can visit the mission, shop your way down State Street, watch the pro volleyball players on the beach, and walk along Stern's Warf. Santa Barbara has many great places to grab a bite to eat or discover a new favorite wine.
Solvang, one of the most charming places in California. A sweet little gem just off the 101 freeway where you will find windmills,yummy aebleskivers, and handfuls of cute trinket shops. Also very close by is an amazing ostrich farm!
If you are driving through and have time to stop you must check out some of the amazing wines Santa Barbara County has to offer. In downtown Los Olivos you will find some beautiful little tasting rooms, cafes, and art galleries. Take a drive down Foxen Canyon Road and discover some famous wineries. If you are along the 246 take Refugio rd towards Santa Barbara and make a right at Sunstone Winery and Vineyards. Of course Sara won't be working that weekend, but if you pop in make sure to mention you were a wedding guest of hers! Have fun!
