Merrill and Jenn met on October 9, 2005 at the Eatery on Broadway in Vancouver. It was a set up by their mutual friend Jennifer Aucoin. There was a large group of people and Merrill sat directly across from Jenn but barely spoke to her the whole time. He ate over $100 of sushi and didn't offer her any. She thought he didn't like her and was a bit of a jerk. But he was smitten and was biding his time......

A week later he asked her to go for a drive. They ended up talking and driving all over the Lower Mainland until 2 am. The chemistry was electric. When he dropped her off he pulled a huge bouquet of flowers out of the trunk. And what a kiss. They've been inseparable ever since.

Jenn found out much later that the very first night they met, Merrill told Jennifer Aucoin on the way home from the Eatery that Jenn was the woman he was going to marry.

On September 1, 2007, on a beach on the Oregon Coast. A beautiful clear sunny day. It was a complete surprise when Merrill dropped to one kneee, took her hand and asked Jennifer if she would do him the honour of being his wife. It was the happiest moment of her entire life.
