Coatepeque Lake & Mayan Site

City of Santa Ana

City of Santa Ana

This tour will include a trip to the beautiful Mayan Ruins in El Salvador called las "Joyas de Ceren". The bus will take us to this site in the morning, this site is unique because many of the common living articles remained intact. The residents fled abruptly due to the eruption of Loma Caldera Volcano in the year 600 A.D. We will be at this historic site until 11 a.m. when we depart from there to Coatepeque Lake.

One of El Salvador's most beautiful natural wonders, this place is currently in the running to be voted as one of the world's new seven natural wonders.

Lake Coatepeque is a crater lake in the east part of the Coatepeque Caldera. At 26 sq. km, it is one of the largest lakes in El Salvador, and has hot springs near its shores. In the lake is the island of Teopan, which was a Mayan site of some importance.

Lunch will not be provided, but we will be taken to an open lunch at "Las Palmeras" restaurant about noon.

Here you have the options of renting jet skis, & boat rides.

Costs are dependant upon the number of people in our party. With current estimates, considering those that have expressed the would join us, cost is about $30.
