Planning my best friend's wedding is starting to become a lot harder than I thought. The theme? Vintage inspired with a modern twist. So what does "vintage inspired" mean to her? She has a list ten miles long which consists of family heirlooms, the Victorian era, delicate lace details, gardens, antiques, cream and blush tones, black and white pictures and so on.
So I am happy to say that we can check off the dress. It has amazing feathery lace detail that covers the low back and wraps around the side of the gown meeting the gathered chiffon at the waistline. It is the most beautiful shade of cream and the cascading chiffon of the skirt shows an alluring slit at the front.
As we all know it is all about the dress; however me being a true shoe girl at heart I am going to focus on the shoes. Things to consider? I've made my own list for shoe requirements including: heel height, statement factor, attention to detail, comfort level and of course theme. I have narrowed it down to three options for three very different looks. I was most impressed by the selection I found through Chinese Laundry.
Option number one is the Tea Party. This structured Victorian lace bootie is more of a statement piece. It fits our theme perfectly with it's modern above the ankle fit and flirty peep toe. The 1" platform and exposed back zipper make the Tea Party a shoe that will be comfortable for a full day of wedding festivities. We can tie in the black by accessorizing with some darker Victorian pieces. The Tea Party will look great peaking through the chiffon.
Option number two is Head Over Heels. This is the perfect match of modern and sexy and it still has the vintage touch with the embellished lace around the ankle and across the toes. The cut-out detail shapes the foot beautifully and the laced up side ribbon is the perfect modern touch. The 1 ½" platform is the perfect companion to the 5" heel for alluring height and all day wear. I have a feeling that my friend will be "head over heels" for this one.
Option number three is the Dreamland. The Dreamland is definitely has the vintage look with this satin platform heel plus a few modern details. The knotted detail at the peep toe and jeweled buckle on the ankle strap make this sandal stand out on its own. It is also available in an array of colors including blush, ivory and black. This could also be a possible bridesmaid option with our 50's style strapless dresses.
As we go back and forth determining what shoe works best with the dress; I find myself very happy with our selection. Three very different looks for one very specific theme. Chinese Laundry offers a selection for every occasion. Now I am ready to pick out some cute wedges and pumps for her honeymoon.
