John & Jeanna

Our Story

My "Proposal"

So as most of you know, John and I have been together for 4 years now. Well we had talked about getting married and moving and building a life for ourselves alot...well, I mainly did the talking. haha. But anyway, I knew I wanted to spend my life with him the first time he told me he loved me, because it was the first time it wasn't just words to me. (I know, sappy)

Well anyway, John has this habit of stashing money away when he gets paid because I typically take it all and use to it to pay some kind of bill. So, about a year or so ago, John made me take him to the mall (which, for anyone that knows him, this was weird). We got inside Willowbend and he told me to go walk around for a while. So, I did...for like 45 minutes. I waited and waited and then went close to where we came in to see if I could find him. He apparently finished a lot quicker than he thought and was wandering around looking for me. Ha, story of our lives.

So, we get out in the car and he hands me this box from Kay Jewelers. I was like, um, what is this? He told me what he was going to get me wound up being kinda hideous in person, so he got me this instead. So I opened the box and in it was a diamond ring. I was in shock. I had never been given anything like that before.

Well, fast forward a few months from this, we were sitting in TGIFridays or Applebees with someone else and they decided to pipe up and let us know that they didn't consider us engaged just because I had a ring. They wanted John to actually do the whole proposal thing. So, the romantic that John is, looked at me and said "So, will you marry me?" And of course, I said yes.

Now, I keep asking him if I get a real proposal, and he keeps telling me yes, but I'm not so sure. I think I might have to be satisfied with the "here's a ring and three months later, I guess I'll ask you the question." Ah, gotta love him.

My Real Proposal!

My Real Proposal!

So John finally really proposed to me! 10 days before the wedding, but, hey...better late than never. haha.

So it was Wednesday night, the 21st of October. John told me to be ready by 7:15ish. So we both got dressed up, and got in the car. As we get to the outskirts of downtown, he makes me put on a blindfold. Like 10 minutes later, we pull up to a hotel downtown and he lets me take off my blindfold. He asks me if I know where we are at, and I have no idea because we are under a covered valet parking area...how the heck am I supposed to know?! We get out of the car, and the valet guy asks if we are staying at the hotel or if we are going up to the Tower...ah, now I know where we are at!

So as we are walking inside, I'm smiling cuz Reunion Tower is one of our favorite places to go. We had gone a few times before when the restaurant, Ataris, was in the tower, but now Wolfgang Puck has his restaurant up there. When I had heard a while back that he was bringing his restaurant here, I told John I really wanted to try it, and there we were :)

So we get up to the restaurant and it is so beautiful...completely different atmosphere from Ataris, but so awesome! We sit down and I order a glass of wine and we order our appetizer. Like 10 minutes later, our waitress comes by with some spiced green beans and candied walnuts, complements of the chef. Those were so amazing!! Then, another 10 minutes later, another waiter brings by Tuna tar-tar complements of the sushi chef. Also, so amazing! At this point, I ask John if he has told the restaurant about the fact that he was maybe gonna propose to me that night...he shakes his head and says 'No.' So, then our appetizer comes, Lobster and Crab spring rolls, amazing. (Have I mentioned the food here is amazing?)

So then, we get our entrees. I ordered chicken and he had halibut. It was pretty funny because his halibut cost more than my chicken, but I wound up with like a half of a whole chicken, and he wound up with like a 4x4 piece of halibut. Ha, but it was all still so good.

Finally, our waitress comes by and drops off the dessert menu. We look through everything and I decide on turtle cheesecake. About 5 minutes later, the waitress comes back with the plate holding the cheesecake in one hand and a bowl in the other. As she puts the plate on the table, I see that on the outer rim of the plate, spelled out in chocolate, it says "Will You Marry Me?" Then, she puts the bowl down, and my ring is inside. Ugh, I almost lost it. It was so great and I couldn't stop smiling the rest of the night. My cheeks hurt by the time we got home that night.

So, to ruin John's reputation, he is a romantic when he wants to be. :)
