Here you can learn all about our Wedding Party, the wonderful family and friends we've asked to stand up front with us, as we begin our lives together.
Keep scrolling, we've got lots of great family and friends that'll be up there with us! :)
Lauren is Lindsey's younger sister. They go way back, to 1992! Ever since before Lauren was born, Lindsey prayed for a sister to love and cherish (no offense, Matt!). When Lauren came along in 1992, Lindsey was known to say "my baby!" and hold Lauren tight when their parents wanted Lauren back.
Through the years, Lindsey and Lauren have grown closer as sisters and as friends. Today, as Lauren is about to graduate from Kamiak High School, they enjoy working on college applications together, having an occasional dinner in Seattle and talking about life.
Jess has been Joel's best friend since middle school. They have mowed hundreds of lawns together, spent countless hours talking about their dreams for their lives and wives, and meet for a weekly men's accountability and Bible study.
Jess married his wife Jackie in July 2010, where Joel stood in front as his Best Man. Jess and Jackie purchased their home in Sumas, WA and work and worship in Lynden.
Ashley is Joel's older sister and Lindsey's soon-to-be only Sister-in-law. Ashley studied Social Work at the University of Washington, then traveled to almost every poor country in the world, and is now working on her Masters in Social Work degree at the UW.
Ashley's heart for the poor and the "least of these" is an inspiration to both of us. We're so glad she'll stand up front with us on this momentous day.
Matt is Lindsey's younger brother, and soon-to-be Joel's only brother-in-law. Matt is a Senior at Seattle Pacific University (SPU), where both Joel and Lindsey graduated in 2009. Matt studied abroad in China during Fall 2010, where he received a Skype call from Lindsey saying she was engaged!
Matt has been a good friend to both of us, and we look forward to growing as family. (Plus, Matt, I hope I can be the 'brother' you've always wanted! ~Joel).
Heidi and Lindsey met on a blind date moving into the Robbins apartments at SPU. They quickly knew they were meant to be roommates, but little did they know that day would start a wonderful friendship and three years of living together at SPU.
Heidi was married to Calvin in July 2010 in Seattle, where Lindsey acted as Heidi's Maid of Honor. Heidi and Calvin currently make their home in Kirkland, WA and work in the Seattle area.
Although living apart is difficult, Heidi and Lindsey have remained the best of friends.
Jesse is Joel's younger brother. They're the closest in age of five siblings, and were only one grade apart in school. They've spent countless hours together, and have grown in maturity and closeness in the last few years. Jesse studied in the Law, Society and Justice program at the University of Washington and is now recently seeking a career in criminal justice and law enforcement. He is currently living in Lynden.
Stephanie and Lindsey met in 6th grade Health class and have been best friends ever since. Through high school, volleyball and lots of life experiences, they have grown closer. Lindsey was Stephanie's Maid of Honor when she was married to Michael in June 2009.
Stephanie and Michael currently make their home in Denver, Colorado where Michael is attending school and Stephanie works for Red Lion as a Catering & Events coordinator.
Ben is Joel's younger brother. He graduated from Lynden High School in 2010, and is now completing his Associates Degree at Whatcom Community College before hopefully heading to Montana to finish his schooling. Ben loves hunting and fishing, which is a past time that he and Joel have enjoyed together.
Catherine and Lindsey first met in Chemistry lab, where they became lab partners and great friends. Clearly "there was great chemistry" between them! They lived, worked and studied together for two years at SPU.
Catherine married Brandon in December of 2009. They now make their home in Kirkland, WA. Catherine is a float nurse for the Everett Clinic, while Brandon applies to Medical schools. She is also fluent in Mandarin!
Paul is Joel's youngest brother, and is currently a Junior at Lynden High School. He enjoys playing football and being in the outdoors. Though Paul and Joel never attended school at the same time, plenty of brotherly activities included playing in the woods, and mowing lawns together. As the youngest brother, Paul has recently started dating so he could be the next one married! Just kidding :)
Linnea and Lindsey have been close family friends for years, as they grew up together at Maple Park Church. Linnea and Lindsey often played "house" together in their childhood years (sorry Linnea, Lindsey's finally found her final house playmate!) Their families have spent several winters together in Leavenworth, and Joel and Lindsey recently got to travel on a mission trip to Mexico with Linnea and her parents. We look forward to many more years of great friendship!
Char and Joel first met in 2006 when they lived on the same floor of Ashton Hall at SPU. However, their friendship really began when there both elected to serve as Vice Presidents of the student government. They've been the closest of friends since, sharing many milkshakes, beds and coffee dates. Char owns CharBeck Photography LLC (www.charbeck.net), and in his spare time travels the world doing world-class photography for non-profits.
Ashlee and Lindsey were roommates their first year together at SPU, as they both came in as transfer students. They became close friends, and now share an apartment together in the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle. Ashlee served on Student Government at SPU with Joel, and now she is engaged to Scott O'Malley, who is a housemate of Joel. Together, Joel and Lindsey, plus Ashlee and Scott have enjoyed many nights at Community Group and foresee a great friendship as couples in Christ.
Alex and Joel met in 2002 when Alex was an exchange student in Lynden. Alex is originally from Mexico, where he studied Medicine for seven years before now coming to Chicago to prepare for the U.S. Medical Board exam. Alex and Joel have traded trips back and forth between Seattle and Mexico City to stay in touch, and hope to remain as close as brothers for the rest of their earthly lives.
