Vacations 020

We were in Gatlinburg on a family vacation. We had been talking about it for awhile but it was a running joke that we'd never get married because we already had two kids and bought a house together but always dodged the question, "when are you two getting married?" Jon being the wonderful provider that he is wanted to make sure that we were ready financially to take the plunge. However, that is not the most romantic way to go about it. I was just about to give up on ever getting married when he started hinting that it was coming soon. So while we were shopping around on vacation we stopped in a jewelry store to look around. The salesman was wonderful and led us through the rings explaining detail........at one point I had four rings on my fingers.........I was drunk with DIAMONDS!

And that's when I heard something I never thought I would. "Honey, why don't we get this one. It has the pave setting that you love." It was music to my ears and I was beaming. Of course I did not want to take it off, but Jon said I had to wait until he officially proposed. It was an agonizing two hours before I would put that baby back on my finger. Since we were with his family (who we are extremely close to), Jon thought it would be special if we surprised his parents with the proposal. So although nothing about it was traditional or "romantic", it was perfect all the same :)

Since Gatlinburg is a special place for Jon and I, we decided it would be the perfect place for us to get married. Which also worked out well for me because although I had never been the girl that had dreamed of her perfect wedding all her life, I did always picture that day outside. Since I had grown up in Hawaii, it seemed like I had endless possibilities......but Indy not as many. Gatlinburg has beautiful scenery which will make the perfect backdrop for an outdoor ceremony. The venue we decided on is the Park Vista Hotel & Convention center. It is located at the highest point in Gatlinburg.

Our wedding attire/style I would say is somewhat laid back and less formal, but I am a girly girl so you will tend to notice that I will glam it up if possible. Overall, I think that it fits both Jon & my personalities, if you know us it makes perfect sense :)

To save money I have decided to DIY all of our flower arrangements. That being said, we are keeping the flowers to a minimum and arrangements simple. Although I would love to have blue hydrangeas everywhere, I don't have the time or budget to. It's okay though, I have included hydrangeas all throughout my paper products.

All of my flowers will be purchased through Sam's Club. In all I will be spending just under $250 on flowers......I hope it works out!

Monogram

So please excuse the fact that alot of the pictures that I have posted in this gallery are blurry. I have yet to grasp how some of the documents I save are clear and some are blurry, but you'll get the jist.

DIY

I definately a champagne girl on a beer budget, but I refuse to let that get in my way. That being said I have had to commit myself to DIYing almost every single detail of my wedding. So this is probably going to be the most detailed gallery. If there is something here that you like and would like me to share more info with you about feel free to email me @ sushi618@yahoo.com. I am not the best teacher so I apologize in advance if my instructions are the best. All of my projects are done by trial and error, googling, and instinct I guess so it's hard for me to express all that in instructions.

I am not going to bother putting all my paper products in this gallery, but like most other knotties I am doing all my own paper, if you want to check any of those out it is the gallery right before this one.

I made a seperate gallery for this project because this was one of the projects that I was most confused about at first. I had heard all about the umbra frames and the finished product looked really nice, but when I got my frame I wasn't clear how the whole thing would work. I found the famous "tutorial" for making the frame sand ready and after much additonal thought and research I came up with a DETAILED step by step instruction gallery. I hope this helps someone else out!
