JZ & Aisha

"He Said, She Said" (The Proposal Story)

Her side of the story...

Her side of the story...

I just don't know where to begin. I will try my best to put my story into a few paragraphs, but it's definitely a challenge hahahhah. JZ and I met through common friends in 2003. We are the typical guy-girl best buddies though most of our communications then were just through emails, texts and chats. Whenever one of us is in deep shit, we always make it a point to seek each others company. We used to call each other as PARE for years. We even made our relationship in MULTIPLY as Brother/Sister which is really funny Ü.

It wasn't until February 2008, when JZ called my cell phone that we both knew our connection was undeniable. From that point on our relationship has flourished and I can honestly say that I have found the prototype for true love. After six years together (5 years as friends and 1 year as couple), my heart still beats faster when I see him and when I am with him. We have had our fair share of ups and downs, but managed to withstand the storms that have only strengthened our relationship. Our friendship that developed during those five years has been the foundation that has made our relationship strong, secure and unbreakable.

Anyway enough of the drama, here’s the proposal story. We have to postpone our Anniversary celebration coz we’re both super busy with our respective work. Unfortunately our Anniversary landed on a weekday so we’re not left with a choice but to move our celebration. He made all the preparations so I am really clueless about everything. I even asked him, “Kelangan ko ba magdala ng Jacket o ng Swimsuit??” just to have a slightest idea of the location. Then he said jacket daw, so then….I’m sure, it’s Tagaytay Ü

Before the celebration, I always ask him almost every hour (imagine how kulit I can be) about the details coz I can’t wait any longer. I love surprises yes. but this waiting time is killing me. Yet he is really firm about not spilling the beans out, which is really great because that surprise weekend getaway is indeed the best weekend of my life Ü.

Of course, Tagaytay is the venue Ü. JZ told me that we will be staying in Keni Po, I told him it’s ok as long as there’s a Wifi connection so I can still work from time to time while we’re together ( I know, such a workaholic of me Ü.). So imagine my face when he made a U-Turn to The Boutique Bed and Breakfast. I was like...OMG BUBU, SERYOSO BA TO?!?!? Let’s face it, I’ve always wanted to go to The Boutique Bed and Breakfast and I am very vocal about it. It’s just that it is so pricey since it’s a typical high end place in Tagatay and an accommodation there is like P10,000.00 for just 1 day. Hahhah .I really screamed my heart out as we enter the parking lot. Ok, now that is the 1st surprise. Ü.

Fast Forward to dinner time. I was sort of wondering why JZ looks so prim and proper. Naka polo talaga siya ha! I asked him “Bat naman napaka formal mo” then he said feel lang nya isuot coz bago daw. I told him” Mag T-Shirt ka na lang, hello yung itsura ko naka shirt at shorts lang ako noh.” Eh ayaw paawat so I let him be, besides, I am so hungry (no wonder I was able to eat 2 cups of rice...dyahe na exposed sa video hahaha). Ü

I didn’t know that the whole dinner time eh may mga kausap na si JZ from the front desk and preparing the “Scenario” .So there, I was so bloated that time so I said mag bill out na. When I entered the room, That is the 2nd surprise. Scattered rose petals all over, balloons on the walls, chocolate cake, swiss chocolate bars , wine & strawberries came to my surprise. Sobrang gulat ko nakalimutan ko na na I have to go to the restroom. Ü Then he suddenly gave me a pink balloon as his 3rd surprise daw. He told me to pop the balloon, eh nagugulat ako so I said hindi ko kaya, so cya nag popped, then the biggest surprise of my life came out... I saw the ring bigla siya lumuhod and asked me to marry him. I cried and laugh at the same time. I didn’t even know that it’s possible. I hugged him so tight and said Hmmm-Hmm and kissed him. Obviously that’s the 3rd and the best surprise ever Ü

I am a hopeless romantic and love hearing how other brides were proposed to. It was the most special weekend of my life thanks to my wonderful fiance!! It was perfect…Perfect for us. Like our relationship, the proposal was spontaneous and full of love and adoration for each other. Ü

And now I’m a bride-to-be. And he’s a groom-to-be. And we’ve stepped into this adventure. There’s no one else I’d rather have by my side. Somehow, someway, we managed to find each other. And now, well now there’s no letting go. Ü

His side of the story...

His side of the story...

As you all probably know, I just got engaged to the most wonderful woman in the world. A lot of you have been asking how I proposed so I just decided to post it here. But before I begin with our story, let me answer the question that most of you were asking..how did I know she was the one?

The answer is fairly simple. I’ve waited 27 years of my life for her and our love grew to the point that we want to spend the rest of our lives together. I couldn’t wait to start “the rest of our lives together” because our love grew so fast that I knew it was time to move to the next stage. I’ve imagined our future life together and I always see myself smiling/giggling (depending on if I’m alone or not). She is the love of my life..and my life. Not being married to her is not an option.

So here’s the story. The planning stage went on for about two months. It all started with hunting for the perfect ring. I found it last February and had it made. I got the ring around first week of March. That’s the time that I started planning on how I’m going to pull it off. I’m a hopeless romantic and I still believe in the magic of proposals so I put some effort into it.

I checked a lot of places. After a few days, I finally decided on The Boutique Bed and Breakfast in Tagaytay. A lot of my friends said that it’s one of the most romantic places ever and I agree. So I contacted them and made reservations for the room with the best view of the Taal Volcano. I also asked for their help in pulling this off. I asked them if they can set up the room with 24 balloons, candles, rose petals all over the room, chocolate cake, wine, strawberries, three bars of chocolate and a big heart pillow. They were more than happy to help when I told them that I was planning to propose.

I then used my acting skills to tell Aisha that I didn’t have any money so we’re just going to stay in Keni Po for our anniversary. She was actually excited to go there. So imagine her surprise when I made a u-turn to enter The Boutique’s parking area. She was freaking out! So I told her happy anniversary and she thought that the surprise is over.

The room was great! But all the while I was praying and hoping that nothing will go wrong. So I went down to the front desk a lot of times to iron out details about my proposal.

Let’s fast forward to 8:30. We went down to eat and I signalled my accomplice to set up the room. After an hour, I told Aisha that I need to go up because I forgot to bring money. So I went up and finished setting up the room. The reason why I only requested for 2 4 balloons is I was bringing the last one (pink one – her favourite color). March 25 is our anniversary so I figured there should be 25 balloons so she would still think that it’s just an anniversary gift. So I put the ring inside the pink balloon and blew on it and put it on top of the bed. I had this idea to put the ring inside the balloon so she needs to pop the balloon so I can “pop the question”. ;)

So watch the video to find out what happened. Please be warned that we are a fun loving couple so you’ll see a lot of bloopers and funny moments. Please excuse her for laughing and crying at the same time and basically freaking out because she really had no idea that I was going to propose. Oh, and I’m not an expert with the Movie Maker so forgive me. Enjoy!
