Crested Butte is our favorite spot in colorado in the summer. It is known as the wildflower capital of colorado! While the wedding is on the (ski) mountain of Mt. Crested Butte, the town is just down the hill (5 minutes drive). The town is where we fell in love with CB. Elk avenue is the main street and it is filled with diverse restaurants and colorful shops. We hope you are able to spend some time there. For those guests that are not driving to CB, there are frequent(free) shuttles from the hotel into town. There are also plenty of ways to enjoy the great outdoors while in CB... The website www.visitcrestedbutte.com has information on activities, dining, shopping, and lodging.
Summit Mt. Crested Butte (12,000+ feet) by taking the Silver Queen lift (located between the Lodge at Mountaineer Square and the Elevation Hotel) partly up the mountain, and hiking the rest of the way (approximately 1 mile) to the top! It is an amazing hike! Lift tickets are available at the Adventure Center in the courtyard of Mountaineer Square. Or do a more leisurely hike down from the Silver Queen lift to the Red Lady lift just to see all the beautiful wildflowers!
Elk avenue is the main drag in Crested Butte... Get a cup of coffee at Camp 4 Coffee, grab a bite to eat at The Ginger (asian), Donita's Cantina, Brick Oven Pizza, The Wooden Nickel (for great burgers), Marchitelli's Gourmet Noodle, or East Side Bistro. Relax at The Princess Wine Bar with a drink! See "dining in crested butte" section for more info. This picture was taken in June, aren't the shops cute?
