Kari & Dan

Kari's Mini Blog

They now have a blog section! Goodie! It wasn't there when I first started, so I transferred all of the information to this part of the site. Don't hesitate to leave comments!

Tidbits of things are coming up now that people know I am getting married.

Awestruck

It's Saturday morning and it's early for me on a weekend. I wasn't able to sleep so I decided to write about the awesome evening I had last night at a Lia Sophia Jewelry Party. It was a special party, not because it was my first party, but because half of the profits were being given to a little guy named Jax. Jax is the son of our friends, Bob and Jill and shortly after his birth, they found out Jax had Cerebral Palsy. This had to be devastating to a couple who just had their first...

Where Did You Get Those?

Lots of people have asked me where I got this or where I got that at our wedding celebration. Here is where it all came from: 1-Neckties All of the neckties for the groomsmen and for Dan and our Dads came from the internet. The sites we used were: www.neckties.com www.saveonties.com www.detroitathletic.com 2-Street Signs All streets signs were custom made for this event. We purchased those on the internet as well. www.mudpie4me.com 3-Rum Punch I know the punch tasted like...

The Day After (or a few days after)

I'm writing this post a few days after our celebration with the help of Dan. We both heard a lot of comments about our wedding celebration being the best anyone has ever been to, but a few of the comments below really stand out. 1-Rare Form  Several people saw our friend Travis in "rare form." Dan says he hasn't seen Travis "like that" since college. 2-Best Party Ever....Maybe Not Most everyone said our party was the best they have ever been to, but our friend John L. had this...

Procrastination

I am taking a short break from cleaning up my house and garage from all of the party fun! Okay, I am really procrastinating since we didn't get out of bed until 11 today and then when we got up we at lunch and checked our emails, so I've only been at this for a few hours now. I am sure I'll get my normal boost of energy around 4pm and finish everything I need to do in record time. I'll write more about the party on Saturday but I was so worried when I saw no one dancing. Then a friend of...

Bag Lady and Then Some

Bag Lady: Lately, I've been addicted to plastic shopping bags. I take all sorts of things to work in them. My lunch, my paperwork, my mail. I even have a few of my favorite bags. I like the texture of them, they are a softer, quieter plastic. Most of these are bags from Target and VG's. I dislike the Wal-Mart brand bags, but I will use them. It's very odd. Yesterday one of my bags had a tear in it. I promptly had to return it to the recycle pile and pick another. I stash them in two areas,...

Distraught

Something happened yesterday that really upset me. Our sand container from Jamaica fell, broke and spilled all over and is now in the trash. I was miserable upon discovering this. I cried and cried like a baby. Mumbling in between tears about how it was destroyed and what should we do, and now we have nothing and I should have not put it here and why did this happen to me and now our marriage won't work, how I carried it all the way back from Jamaica, in a carry on bag, why couldn't it have...

Drag Racing Weekend

This weekend I had the rare opportunity to travel to my home county to watch Dan drag race the Gremlin and win! It is amazing to watch two cars, who have five to ten seconds to give it their all and a winner is chosen. There are so many variables that determine this, not just the engine within the car, but the tire pressure, the track temperature, the driver's reaction time, the length of the burnout, etc. But what I love most about going to the races, are the comments I hear in the stands. A...

Friends Forever

This weekend I surprised a friend with a 39.5 birthday party. I was ready for the worst. Her husband and other friends and family members assured me this surprise party was my death wish. Thankfully they were all wrong. My friend Dawn was very surprised and happy about the decision I made. It was nice to see a friend who truly was grateful for my actions. It isn't often that you see genuine happiness and pleasure in a person, especially after surprising them with a milestone birthday party....

New Crop

Tis the season for candy corn. I am terribly addicted to candy corn and since we have had so much going on this summer and now into the fall, I forgot it was even candy corn season until I went into the gas station the other day. Oh, I resisted, but today I almost broke down. Almost. Usually I go through about two to three candy corn bags a season. Naturally I do not go at this task alone, Dan is more than willing to help me taste the new crop. And as many candy corn lovers know, you have to...

Saying Goodbye

The other day I was thinking how I become so attached to one item that I am so sad when I have to say goodbye. This idea came from my blow dryer. It started what my friend calls "the rattle" and sometimes started sounding as if the dryer was being unplugged and plugged in again. The power was pulsating and I would dry my hair as quickly as possible to avoid the dreaded "spark fly" from my dryer. The day after these items began to surface, I bought a new hair dryer. And took it back when...
