Wedding Restaurant Survey
We opted for Western wedding reception instead of Chinese traditional “Yam Seng” reception. From the year that we knew each other, he used to planned me western fine dining on special occasion, such as birthday, anniversary, Christmas, therefore we had tried numbers of restaurant and now we start the restaurant filtering based on taste of food and comfort level of the environment.
Here are some restaurants that we have been survey (or maybe I should say we had dined before) with our little comments.
Rahsia
We dine at Rashia on 2006 Christmas, the restaurant is not crowded, but food was nice and with ambient and cozy environment. Actually we love the environment and they also provide a reasonable sit down dinner price according to their web site, we actually short listed them, unfortunately one day we found out a bad comment from one of the Malaysia bride former who held their wedding reception complained about their bad service, cold and burned meal and did not keep their promise on event decoration, at the end the couple actually come out their own decoration, but they disappointed their guest because of food and services.
Understand that we should not listen to one side of story, but I don’t think me and my behalf would like to take risk on our once a life event. So they are out from our list now.
CIAO
CIAO is the first restaurant that he show to me that he wish to held his wedding, and at that moment he yet proposed to me, actually to be accurate we are just at the stage of understanding each other. But I always keep his word in my heart, until my 28th birthday, he actually brought me here for dinner and proposed to me on the same night and I am so happy that he chooses such a special place for my birthday celebration.
Be frank when we dine at CIAO, we did not feel comfortable at all, because the table next to us thought that he was pay for the whole restaurant and educating his son with his thunder voice, I can said he spoiled the whole environment. But, stand on the reviewing point, CIAO actually do not have a ambience environment and they are only serving Italian food which majority on pasta, cheesy food, both of us fine with the food here, but we actually care on our guest, because not everyone will like cheesy food. One thing to highlight is for huge crowd reception, they will proposed to use outdoor, I think I would like my guest to be more comfortable, so we hope our reception will be held at in-door.
Anyway, we still did not have actual quotation from CIAO; only take online price for reference so they are in our short listed list until we get the actual costing for comparison with others restaurant only will come out the final decision
Café Café
This restaurant is out from our list, not because of bad customer service, lousy environment, and disgusting food, the reason behind is this restaurant only serving French food, I guess not everyone can accept goose liver and escargot including both of us, but he told me that we must tried once in our life, so he brought me here during Christmas 2007.
Is famous French restaurant in KL with very ambient and cozy environment, is suitable for special occasion celebration or family gathering, I feel is good place for chasing girl too, He!He!. Too bad, I can’t force all Asian to love French food.
Avillion
During our 2nd year anniversary, he arranged one night stay at Avillion with candle light dinner at room balcony, we love the food very much and the room service, but not the front office receptionist, we did make our complain to the hotel, actually we not intent to get any complimentary, just want to show our unsatisfactory and hope they will improve their customer service, but they still complimentary one night stay for us, anyway we did not use up the complimentary.
Avillion actually is a nice place to hold beach wedding, but is too far for my guest to travel out from town to PD, so we never take this hotel for consideration. But you interested, if my memory still good, they actually told us the minimum spend for one night is 30k. Anyway, here still a nice place to have romantic candle light dinner with love on in the room and pamper yourself with spa, massage to escape from busy work life.
Tamarind Spring
Tried out this restaurant on his 28th birthday celebration, I get the restaurant person in charge to prepared food he love and arrange a special table setting for his big day. Actually our intention is more on check out the food and environment.
Tamarind have few restaurant, we dine at Tamarind Spring that serving the combination of Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam food, so the food is quite suit to Asian, and we quite love the environment, we feel relax and comfortable.
Now come to price. Price that they quoted us on year 2008 is RM18K for whole restaurant closure on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday, 20k on Friday and 23k for Saturday and keep in mind this is only minimum spending, they do not include any decoration and from the sample sit down menu they quoted the cheaper is RM105 without any beverage. Still not sure what is the price on 2010, we yet ask for more information, hopefully the price is reasonable.
BonTon
Every year Christmas he will arrange dinner and gift exchange, but on year 2008 Christmas, we decided the restaurant together, because we have a list of restaurant to review and decide our wedding reception venue, therefore BonTon was selected after we did some research on BonTon web site, from the picture you can see the environment is awesome, but after we visited the restaurant we found out that the main benefits is they have huge parking lots, unfortunately the restaurant is not bungalow type, which is not really want we looking at, anyway the interior was nice as what they publish on their web sites.
Come to food, from appetizer to main course until dessert, we only love the Christmas log with brandy, this dessert is super nice, till today still miss the taste, secondly was appetizer – the pear salad. Meaning that, the main actor of the whole dinner main course is not really nice.
Food and environment is essential element on our research, since the main course has disappointed us, so we got to filter them out from our list.
Courtyard Garden
My 29th birthday is another occasion that we picked the restaurant together; we choose a restaurant that serves fusion located at Damansara Height. This restaurant did not impress me during my online research, when we both of us have the same thinking, this restaurant environment is what we wanted, and point add on because is bungalow style restaurant, therefore they have their table arrangement at car pouch, backyard, garden, I especially love the sofa that located at backyard, feel so comfortable just like you are at home.
Fusion means the combination of Asian and Western cooking style, we ordered Thai western and Japanese western cuisine, both taste superb, I guess can suit to Asian taste bud. The only disadvantages of this restaurant is no parking space is available, although they can accommodate 200pax, but where should all my guest park their car, my alternate solution will be the car park at the opposite office lots, well we need to do more survey on the parking if we really confirm this restaurant, now we are busying requesting quotation from the restaurant.
Choose a nice restaurant really not a simple task; especially you need this restaurant to hold once in a life events. Therefore we start our survey journey early; hope can visit or try out more restaurants before we have final decision. We will continue our survey till we really get a superb environment, delicious food and reasonable price restaurant, do come back and visit our wedding preparation journey from time to time.
