How we met?
Kevin and I met at secondary school. I was transferred from a girls’ secondary school to SMK Methodist (ACS) which is much nearer to my house as I need to walk to school everyday.
That time, I was in Form 1 in 1996 and he was the class monitor. Our first conversion is that he came over to my place and asked for my name for the students' name list. Then we seldom talk to each other. In Form 2, we were not in the same class.
In Form 3, we were in same class again. Both of us were also very active in co-curriculum activities like Red Crescent Society, and Teenagers Club.
In Form 4, we were in different classes again but during this year, both of us were selected to be part of a 6 persons team for the annual Red Cresent Society First Aid competition. We had to stay back after school every day for training on marching, study on first aid theories and practicals. We also had to practice and train during school holidays.
Within this one and half year period, we had a lot of sweet, sour, bitter, and spicy memories together among the 6 of us in that team consists of 3 boys and 3 girls. I was the leader in the team and Kevin was one of the members, shortest guy in the group hence he had to stand in the middle, facing me every time during marching.
After the competition, we were nearly completing Form 4 and entering Form 5 where we had to concentrate and prepare for our SPM examination. At that time, we did not meet or talk much to each other as we had finished the first aids competition.
He is a very quiet person, but nice to talk to. Sometimes, he would make jokes around the teammates.
Then I started to hear rumours from other classmates saying that Kevin likes me. I did not take it seriously at that time because from what I thought it was a rumour and it is not real. Few months later, he started to care about what I mentioned or talked to my other close friends. I remembered I mentioned about finding a key chain in piglet shape but couldn't find one in shopping mall. Then shortly a few days after that, I received a handcrafted wooden piglet made by Kevin. Do you know how he passed to me?
On that day, I stayed back a bit late for extra class. After the class I packed my stuff and head straight back to home. While entering Terminal 1 which is just opposite our school, Kevin came chasing towards me and said "This is for you". The package of the present also made by him using different and sweet colored papers. There was a sticker on it written "Lifetime warranty".
He called me to confess that he loved me and asked me out after midyear of our Form 5, for dinner and a movie. After that date and movie, we've been together ever since.
On June 4, 2009, is our 9th anniversary. It was a weekday so both of us still need to work, so we had a quite dinner at Pasta Zanmai in Sunway Pyramid.
That day was also the day my aunt went for medical operation. After our dinner we quickly went to visit my aunt at the hospital. I was very upset and worried about my lovely aunt's health. Thank god, she is recovering and getting better now.
By the time we reached back home, it is already close to midnight. I was getting ready to sleep and Kevin suddenly brings out a diamond ring and proposed to me.
I never thought someone could really surprise me and catch me off my guard. Never in my wildest dreams did I think that someone could pull off a proposal without me knowing about it, but he did.
I looked at him, for what seemed like 1 minute and wondering how he managed to get me a wedding ring although we were together most of the time. I knew that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him, but I just couldn't get the word out. I just nodded my head and smiled. He put the engagement diamond ring on my finger.
We got married at Then Hou Temple on 26/09/09. It was the most unforgettable night of my life, and it's a night that I'll never forget.
