Travel & Accommodations

After much debate, we decided to hold the wedding close to our home in Florida. Listed below are possible airports and lodging options. Please contact us with any questions!

Tallahassee Airport (TLH)- Flying into Tallahassee will certainly be the most convenient, but may not fetch you the best price. This airport is small, easy and will be within 25 minutes to wherever you choose to stay.

Valdosta (VLD) and Panama City (PFN) Airports- Both these are small airports roughly 2hrs driving away from Tallahassee.

Jacksonville Airport (JAX)- A large airport where you will find the best deals, but is about 3hrs driving away from Tallahassee.

As far as lodging goes, there are many many options. We picked out a couple possibilities below.

Cabot Lodge

(850) 386-7500

1653 Raymond Diehl Road

Tallahassee, FL

This is where most people we know who come in from out of town stay. They have a decent hot breakfast in the morning, and a totally free happy hour (snacks and beer/wine) at night. It is on the north side of town, but is very accessible, and near Brian's (ah! I mean, 'our') house. It is a good choice for anyone looking for a mid-range, comfortable place to stay.

We reserved a group rate of $89/ day under "Branciforte/Mortimer wedding". Reserve by 9/22/10 to get this rate.

Staybridge Suites

850-219-7000

1600 Summit Lake Drive

Tallahassee, FL 32317

This is closest lodging to our wedding location, but is a little out of town away from restaurants, etc. This is from their website:

The Staybridge Suites offers all of the conveniences of home to suit your extended stay or short term hotel needs. Our smoke free, pet friendly hotel featuring fully-equipped kitchens, digital cable flat screen TV w/HBO, in-room computers with free wired/wireless Internet, IPOD docking station & direct dial phone number with personalized voicemail. Other features include 24 hour business center with free Internet, print/fax/copy capabilities, free laundry facilities, fitness center, outdoor pool, theatre room, BBQ pavilion, sport court, free breakfast buffet & evening Managers receptions (Tues-Thurs).

Group rate is $90/ night for one Queen bed, or $110 for two Queens. Ask for "Branciforte/ Mortimer" wedding.

Book by 9/23/10 to get this rate!

Hotel Duval

Tallahassee, , FL

Hotel Duval is the new hip and modern hotel near downtown. It is a historic hotel that has been recently renovated, and apparently has very cool color-themed rooms. The rate is a little high for the area, but it is very nice accommodations in a good area.

We reserved a group rate of $119/ night (plus $12/ night parking) under "Mortimer/ Branciforte wedding". Reserve by 9/9/10 to get this rate.

Wakulla Springs State Park- Historic Hotel

(850) 926-0700AB

550 Wakulla Park Drive

Wakulla Springs,, Florida

View Map

About 15 miles south of Tallahassee is a National Register of Historic Places- Wakulla Springs State Park. Built in 1937, this blah blah blah...:) The rooms are quaint, maybe a little small, but very nice (fair warning...no TV's!). And Wakulla Springs is definitely worth experiencing. It may be a little farther to drive if you want to participate in all the wedding activities, but would be a great place for a quiet stay in a State Park- where you can experience the Real Florida...deepest springs in the world! Glass bottom boats! Blah blah blah!

Suwannee River State Park- Cabins

(386) 362-2746

20815 County Road 132

Live Oak, FL

75 miles east of Tallahassee, is Suwannee River State Park, which has five cabins. Brian and I stayed here once, and it was a great time! The cabins can technically sleep six, but they'd probably sleep four much better. This would be a good choice for an extended stay, or anyone who doesn't plan to be part of all the festivities (although we hope you still come to them!).
